the ending scene was my main inspiration, but i also wanted the VHS art to have that other worldy liminal thiing going on- so i made the main character also look like a demonic entity.
A lot, but not all!, of older vhs tape art have characters or ideas drawn on the cover that don't really represent the movie- this lends the art work into having a strange spectral liminality, since it's sometimes promising you more than what the movie is going to offer. Cover art felt like a fever dream of the movie rather than a direct representation.. Which is why they were so great hahahaha
