Xiuying and her kids are part of a story I'm working on involving the concept of supernatural beings as a minority in human society.
Xiuying and her kids are classified as immortal in a sense due to their supernatural heritage.
But if you're more curious personality wise;
Xiuying is basically used as a political figure/symbol by the government of China, she is seen as the ideal citizen, elegant, resourceful, with children who go on to thrive in the economy and social scene.
Much is kept in the dark about Xiuying, like her romance with a woman named Columbia who is also supernatural, her arguments about certain policies against immortals and the like.
She does her best to keep her kids from the spotlight, not wanting them to be stuck in her position of being forced to keep quiet.
Her children are all different in their own ways, just like their father who they don't speak to anymore after their mother divorced him for cheating.
Yanmi loves architecture and agriculture, she works hard to make sure that the people of her country have food and water and comfortable living, even if she runs into issues with poor budgets or already established poor structure.
Yanmi is very independent, never asks her mother for anything, even if Xiuying insists on helping in some way, and is the eldest child.
Yating is a teacher! While it can be stressful, he works at a university, making sure his lectures are sound and informative while also being somewhat entertaining to students.
He's also independent, but he never complains when Xiuying wants to visit or call every week to check in on him. He dearly cares for his mother, especially as the youngest who lived at home during the time of the very public divorce. He looks up to his mother and wishes to be strong and yet still caring like she is.
Xiao Hong is a doctor. She works as a neurologist mainly, being both a surgeon and specialist in the field. She never planned to be a neurologist, only a general practitioner, however she found herself fascinated with the brain and its connections to the nervous system.
She's a caring individual who would give the clothes off her back to help anyone, regardless of if they could pay her back. Even if she often looks angry, she isn't, she's lost in her thoughts of ways to tell people their diagnosis or even just figuring out the diagnosis.
Xiao Hong would give her mother the world and her freedom if she could.
