people are really fucking clueless about generative ai huh? you should absolutely not be using it for any sort of fact checking no matter how convenient. it does not operate in a way that guarantees factual information. its goal is not to deliver you the truth but deliver something coherent based on a given data set which may or may not include factual information. both the idolization of ai and fearmongering of it seem lost on what it is actually capable of doing

Remember what generative "AI" does, kids: it GENERATES. That means it generates answers to questions based on whatever garbage has been fed into it. Not "goes and looks up the answer." Not "already studied and knows everything." It's just reaching into its sack of word salad and dumping a pile on your desk. Sure, maybe the words fit together to form sentences, but that doesn't make it correct.

a generative AI search result vs the exact article it is citing. the website it scrambled that information from also just happens to include info on winged roaches. gisborne cockroaches are completely wingless. even if it's pulling info straight from one reliable source, there is every chance it'll mash up that info into something false.

If you need a visual, here’s how poorly AI performed when asked to create citations for news articles. And that’s just for citations, imagine what it’s doing when you ask it more complex questions and tasks.

On the cornsnakes subredit someone there used generative AI to "answer" someone's question about what the raised black lump on their corn snake could be. Another person called them out and AI-user responded with "I can do what I want, and what's the harm anyways?"

I stepped in and explicitly detailed everything that the list got wrong, which was about 95% of it, to show why is was harmful. After an hour they deleted their comment plus they deleted most of their comment history.

AI is a lie generator. Don't use it.

Anyone else not care if a character is “redeemable” even a little. Either they get better or they die terrible. I am not Anubis, weighing their hearts against a feather. I wanna see what else they can do and how they can grow or change or even get worse. Stop asking me if a character can be forgiven. I don’t care.

me when i roast some carrots and soup some lentils and then mix it all together into the most delicious shrieking orange soup

ok no one asked but heres the recipe

ingredience:

  • 1 Yellow onion
  • 500g of carrots (i used 450g shh dont tell anyone)
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2dl red lentils
  • one 400ml can of coconut milk
  • 6dl water + 2 bouillon cubes OR 6dl broth depending on whats more normal for you
  • 1 spinkle of curry powder
  • Whatever oil you can afford
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Some sort of blender

INSTRUCTIONS!!

  1. Set the oven to 200°C
  2. Peel and cut the carrots into diagonal coins, ca. 1-2cm thick (like the picture above). Put them on parchment paper on a baking tray and salt and drizzle w a bit of oil (preferably olive oil but I am too broke for that) and then throw them into the oven for 30min.
  3. WHILE THE CARROTS ARE ROASTING chop the onions no need to chop super finely and they will get blended to shreds. Fry together with the curry powder until translucent and then throw in the lentils, ginger, coconut milk, water and cubes (or broth).
  4. Let the soup simmer for 15 minutes or until the lentils are soft (and if you're a pro like me you time it perfectly and start simmering right when theres 15 min left on the carrot timer)
  5. When the carrots and lentils are both done throw it all together and blend til smooth with either a stand mixer or a big blender. Salt and pepper to taste.
  6. SERVE WITH BREAD and enjoyr your delicious super orange soup

ive seen like a handful of people complain about this on some sites that Oh everyone's trying to do mesmerizer everyone is making a mikuteto song these days which like whatever this is not a complaint that Matters but. i personally think it's saucesome how two mascots for different vocal synth products and softwares has become like such an established Duo. like its not like rinlen or whatever where theyve been marketed as Do Not Separate Them like no teto was created and designed to be a free knockoff miku arguably she's the wario to mikus mario and now people make songs of them together constantly. brother that rules

the word for pests and other undesired animals in swedish is very newspeak-esque. it's "odjur", which is the prefix "o-" meaning not, akin to the english prefix "un-", and "djur" which is just the word for animal.

"unanimal".

now, the prefix "o-" is sometimes used in this way instead of meaning "not" it just means the undesirable version of thing. another instance of this is "oljud" which is the word for unpleasant noise, or the word for bad weather which is "oväder".

"un-sound".

"unweather".

very evocative.
