     William Sutherland of Duffus was the son of William Sutherland of Berriedale.² He married Janet Innes, daughter of Berowald Innes, on 22 July 1484.¹ He died in 1514.¹
     In 1484 he succeeded to Quarrelwood.¹ In 1507 he had a charter of Duffus.¹

     Janet Innes is the daughter of Berowald Innes.¹ She married, firstly, William Sutherland of Duffus, son of William Sutherland of Berriedale, on 22 July 1484.¹ She married, secondly, Hugh Rose, 9th of Kilravock, son of Hugh Rose, 8th of Kilravock and Isabel Sutherland, circa 1517.¹
     From 22 July 1484, her married name became Sutherland. From circa 1517, her married name became Rose.¹
