Charlotte Thompson is the daughter of George Nesbitt Thompson.2 She married Sir John Hadley D'Oyly, 8th Bt., son of Sir John Hadley D'Oyly, 6th Bt. and Diana Rochfort, on 1 December 1819.1

Maj.-Gen. Sir Charles Walters D'Oyly, 9th Bt. was born on 21 December 1822.1 He was the son of Sir John Hadley D'Oyly, 8th Bt. and Charlotte Thompson.2 He married, firstly, Emily Jane Nott, daughter of Maj.-Gen. George Nott, on 25 September 1855.1 He married Elinor Scott, daughter of James Winter Scott and Lucy Jervoise, on 5 June 1867.2 He died on 11 July 1900 at age 77.1
He was educated at Addiscombe Military College, Addiscombe, London, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Gwalior Campaign.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Bengal Army.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet D'Oyly, of Shottisham, Norfolk [E., 1663] on 21 March 1869.1

Emily Jane Nott was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. George Nott.2 She married Maj.-Gen. Sir Charles Walters D'Oyly, 9th Bt., son of Sir John Hadley D'Oyly, 8th Bt. and Charlotte Thompson, on 25 September 1855.1 She died on 12 May 1857.1
