     Horatio de Vere, 1st and last Baron Vere of Tilbury was born in 1565 at Crepping Hall, Wakes Colne, Essex, EnglandG.3 He was the son of Geoffrey de Vere and Elizabeth Hardkyn.4 He married Mary Tracy, daughter of Sir John Tracy and Anne Throckmorton, in November 1607 at Hailey Abbey, Toddington, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.3 He died on 2 May 1635 at Whitehall, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3
     He fought in the Low Countries Campaign between 1590 and 1604, for the Dutch.4 He fought in the Siege of Steenwyck in 1592, where he was wounded.4 He was appointed Knight in 1596.4 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1599.4 He fought in the Battle of Nieuwport in 1600.4 He fought in the Battle of Ostend in January 1601/2.4 He held the office of Governor of Brill between 1609 and 1616.4 He fought in the Siege of Juliers in 1610.4 He held the office of Governor of Utrecht in 1618.4 He was Captain-General of the English forces in Rhenish Palatinate in February 1621/22.4 He was created 1st Baron Vere of Tilbury, co. Essex [England] on 24 July 1625.4 He held the office of Master-General of Ordnance from March 1628/29 to 1634.4

     Mary Tracy was born on 18 May 1581 at Toddington, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 She was the daughter of Sir John Tracy and Anne Throckmorton.2,1 She married, firstly, William Hoby before 1607.2 She married, secondly, Horatio de Vere, 1st and last Baron Vere of Tilbury, son of Geoffrey de Vere and Elizabeth Hardkyn, in November 1607 at Hailey Abbey, Toddington, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 She died on 25 December 1671 at age 90 at Kirby Hall, Little Ouseburn, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1
     From before 1607, her married name became Hoby.2 After her marriage, Mary Tracy was styled as Baroness Vere of Tilbury on 24 July 1625.

     Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Lord Fairfax of Cameron was born on 17 January 1611/12 at Denton Hall, Ilkley, Yorkshire, England.1,3 He was the son of Ferdinando Fairfax, 2nd Lord Fairfax of Cameron and Lady Mary Sheffield.1 He married Hon. Anne de Vere, daughter of Horatio de Vere, 1st and last Baron Vere of Tilbury and Mary Tracy, on 20 June 1637.1 He died on 12 November 1671 at age 59.1
