Evive Unveils Digital Platform to Address Gambling HarmEvive Unveils Digital Platform to Address Gambling Harm

In response to the growing accessibility of gambling and the surge in sports betting advertisements, Evive has introduced a groundbreaking digital health platform designed to assist individuals in developing healthier gambling habits. The platform is tailored to support users in preventing gambling harm, modifying gambling behaviors, or ceasing gambling entirely.

Evive’s innovative platform boasts a comprehensive array of features created in partnership with psychology, addiction counseling, and mobile technology experts. This collaboration aims to enhance users’ awareness of their gambling habits and provide essential tools to manage or eliminate detrimental behaviors.

A Collaborative Effort for Effective Solutions

Sam DeMello, Founder and CEO of Evive, emphasized the mission behind the platform’s development. “We started Evive because we believe that if technology can be used to make gambling more accessible and engaging to millions of people across the US, then that same technology should be able to help prevent gambling-related harm. Evive meets any gambler wherever they are, delivering customised solutions to help them achieve their goals,” stated DeMello.

The platform features several key components, including behavioral change tools, a customized toolkit, educational content, and a private community for support. The behavioral change tools are designed to track and analyze gambling behavior, helping users identify patterns and triggers that contribute to harmful gambling habits.

Comprehensive Tools and Community Support

The customized toolkit provides a wealth of resources, such as self-help tools, support groups, and access to professional counseling services. Educational content, thoroughly vetted by experts, aims to empower users with knowledge about gambling and strategies to prevent and recover from gambling-related harm.

A significant aspect of the platform is its private community feature, which allows members to connect anonymously with peers and experts. This feature facilitates sharing experiences and offers guidance, ensuring that support is accessible and inclusive for all members.

Jeff Marotta, PhD, Evive’s Chief Scientific Officer, highlighted the platform’s reach and impact. “Our nation’s current efforts to address gambling harm are not keeping pace with the need brought about by the recent widespread legalisation of sports and mobile gambling,” Marotta explained. “Evive reaches a much broader population than traditional tools, empowering members to seek help before more harm is caused.”

Addressing a Growing Need for Responsible Gambling

The launch of Evive’s platform coincides with increased attention on responsible gambling initiatives. For instance, the National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program (NVSEP) recently announced self-exclusion support in California in response to the need for such an initiative in the state.

Additionally, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB)received new resources to improve the MGCB’s regulatory capabilities and support responsible gambling in Michigan, where the gambling market has grown significantly. The Michigan Legislature has approved the allocation of $1.9 million to the MGCB from the FY2025 budget. This funding will enable the board to hire 14 full-time staff members, greatly enhancing its capacity to oversee the state’s sports betting and iGaming industries. The new staff will also bolster the MGCB’s efforts to combat illegal wagering activities, promoting a fair and transparent gaming environment in Michigan.

Evive’s platform is poised to make a significant impact by offering practical solutions and comprehensive support for those struggling with gambling harm. Through innovative technology and a collaborative approach, Evive aims to foster healthier gambling behaviors and contribute to the overall well-being of individuals across the US.
