Perfect Blend

Hi everyone.  I'm having fun playing with the CAS Mix Up February Challenge - Corrugated Cardboard. :)  There's so many ways to use this product.

I kept the coffee sleeve from a Canadian coffee outlet called Tim Hortons, after recently enjoying a delicious French Vanilla Coffee - yummy! :)  I used it to create the sleeve for the coffee cup on my card. :)  I stamped and paper pieced this fun coffee cup from SU!  I've had this set for YEARS, and I'm embarrassed to say this is the first time inking it up. :)

I added some texture to the background with embossing paste and a stencil, just randomly over the right side of the card front.  A strip of black card stock was added to anchor the cup.  I stamped a simple, little sentiment on the coffee sleeve.  :)

There was still something missing, so masked the bottom and cup, then splattered with just a little black.  Those little splatters made a big difference. :)

I used lots of snippets on this card (corrugated sleeve, coffee cup and lid, and black strip at the bottom), so I'm linking up to the Snippets Playground.

Stamps:  Perfect Blend (Stampin' Up!); Word Salad (Paper Smooches)
Paper:  White card base (Neenah 110 lb.); Black (SU!), Patterned Paper (Ambrosia from Bazzill)
Ink:  Black (Memento); Crumb Cake and Baked Brown Sugar (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Coffee sleeve from Tim Hortons, Burlap Stencil (Tim Holtz), White Embossing Paste (Dreamweaver), sponges

Christmas Snowflake

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a Christmas card made with Brushos.  I love these little pots of goodness ... just sprinkle a little, spray with water and wait for the magic to happen. :)

I used just two colours ... Turquoise and Ultra Marine, but there are lots of pigments within each colour, so lots of pretty tones from soft blue to deep blue to purple. :)

After it was dry, I place a large snowflake stencil over top, pressed with versamark, and then heat embossed in white.  So simple and fun to make! :)

I'm entering this over at Time Out #63 - Holiday and I've followed the twist of no stamping (except for sentiment). :)

I'm adding this to the gallery over at CAS Mix Up August Challenge - Sprays.  Hope to see you in the gallery!

Stamps: Sentiment - Swanky Dudes (Paper Smooches)
Paper:  Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.)
Ink:  Brushos:  Turquoise, Ultra Marine; Versamark
Accessories & Tools:  water mister, Snowflake Stencil cut with my Silhouette Cameo, white embossing powder, heat tool

Sponged Stenciling and More

Hi everyone.  Sharing two more sunflower stenciled cards using sponging over a stencil.  The first one  (above) is just sponging ... simple.  I used distress inks and then added a fun sentiment from Lawn Fawn to finish.  Easy, peasy one layer CAS card.

Here's my second version ... with a slight difference ...

The second one is sponging as well, but there's a little more to it.  This has been dry embossed first using the stencil, and then sponged afterwards.  LOVE this subtle embossing, but it's hard to capture in a photo.

For dry embossing with stencils, here's the "sandwich" that works for me with my Big Shot ... (Open to Tab 1 on platform, cutting plate, stencil taped to card front ... stencil facing down, silicone mat, Sizzix Textures impression pad).

I left the stencil and card front taped together while I sponged over the sunflower. Looks very similar to the card above, but in real life you can see the raised design of the sunflower and it adds just a little something extra.  I took a close-up shot, but not sure you can really see the difference ... trust me, it looks very cool. :)  I added another "sunny" sentiment ... who knew that I had so many different ones??!! :)

Just another couple of ways to use a stencil.  I hope you are enjoying all the different ways I'm using this stencil.  It's been lots of fun and I still have more ways to try. :)

I'm entering this into AAA Cards #69 - One Stash Favourite Challenge.  I do love to play with stencils. :)

Hope you are all having a great day.  Thanks so much for dropping by for a visit!

Inspired by Mary

Hi everyone.  Today I was visiting blogs of friends that I follow and I came across this post from my friend MaryH.  I LOVE Mary's beautiful card, and was intrigued by the video tutorial she included with her post.  I watched the Ellen Hutson video and had to try the technique right away. :)

I embossed my stencil onto my card front ... it's just a subtle embossing, but you can definitely see the depth in real life.  Sponged on my colours (there's a few booboo's where I got a little crazy with the green, but all in all, pretty easy to do with masking off areas with removable tape).  Once I was finished, I removed the stencil and then brushed on the Perfect Pearls.  It adds a subtle sparkle to the flowers.

Here's a close-up ...

All the stars seemed to align, so I'm entering this into three challenges. :)

I used a snippet of black cardstock to heat emboss my sentiment, so I'm dropping by the Snippet Playground for a little fun time. :)

Also entering this into the CAS Challenge at ATS&M.

And into the challenge at CAS-ology #198 (cue card: Stencil).

Plus this is a reminder of the CAS Mix Up challenge that is running until May 24th. This is a CAS Mix Up card with stamping, dry embossing, stenciling, sponging, heat embossing and perfect pearls.

Thanks for the inspiration Mary.  This was a fun technique and another great way to use my stencils!
