Engage and celebrate with SDU

The academic year is kicked off in September with the semester start party. Here, you can enjoy live music performances by top Danish artists and party with students from all five faculties.

SDU's grandest event is the annual university celebration which takes place in October. Here, you celebrate with live music, food, drinks and entertainment alongside students, professors and staff.

In May, the Student Unity Day brings all SDU campuses together for sports, fun and celebration - arranged by students for students.

Everyday social activities

SDU hosts over 100 approved student associations which offer something for everyone at all campuses –whether you’re into sport, art or culture.

At all campuses, you can experience the Danish tradition Friday bars which are informal gatherings to mark the end of the work week. The SDU Friday bars are perfect for unwinding, meeting friends, and kicking off your weekend.

You can always find a cozy nook or sofa group where you can hang out with your friends, do group work or relax between classes.

Danish friends

Making Danish friends is a great way to experience the culture, pick up some Danish and grow your network. Your Danish friends can help you with tips about student life, where to find the cool events and how to make the most of your time here.

There are plenty of opportunities to make new friends at SDU or in the local community; three international students share their experiences below.

Learn Danish

Start learning Danish as soon as possible. It will help you integrate and Danish skills increase your chances of finding a student job.
