Definition Of Artificial Intelligence

Creation of machines that can perform tasks that require

human cognition Includes:

• Perception

• Reasoning

• Learning

• Decision-making

• Natural language processing.

Concept Of Artificial Intelligence

• Concept of Artificial Neutral Networks presented by

Frank Rosenblatt.

• In the 1980s and 1990s, machine learning techniques

gained popularity

• Deep learning algorithms

Maturation of Artificial Intelligence (1943-1952)

• Warren McCulloch and Walter Pitts proposed a model

of artificial neurons in 1943.

• Alan Turing proposed the Turing test in 1950

The Birth of Artificial Intelligence (1952-1956)

• “First artificial intelligence program" named "Logic

Theorist" in 1955.

• John McCarthy coined the term ‘artificial intelligence’

• First AI conference in 1956.

The golden years-Early enthusiasm (1956-1974)

• First Chat bot named ELIZA was created in 1966.

• The first intelligent humanoid robot, WABOT-1, was built in

Japan in 1972.
The First and Second AI winter
1974 to 1980:

• Severe shortage of funding for AI research.

1980 to 1987:

• The first national conference of AI was held at Stanford University in

1982.

1987 to 1993:

• Between 1987 to 1993 lack of funding for AI research, leading to a

second AI winter
The emergence of intelligent agents (1993-2011):

• In 1997, first computer to beat a world chess champion.

• Companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Netflix began using AI

in their operations by 2006.
Deep learning, big data and artificial general
intelligence (2011-2014)

• IBM's Watson won Jeopardy in 2011.

• Google launched the Android app feature "Google Now" in

2012.

• Chat bot "Eugene Goostman" won the infamous "Turing test"

in 2014.
Artificial Intelligence in Present
AI in Healthcare and Finance

Health Care:

• AI-powered medical imaging systems for accurate

diagnosis

Finance:

• Trading algorithms for real-time analysis of market data

• Fraud detection and risk identification for financial

institutions
AI in personal digital assistants and chatbots

• Personal digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, Google assistants

• Natural language processing and machine learning for

improved customer service
AI in self-driving cars and Education

Self Driving Cars:

• Sensors and cameras for detecting obstacles

• Potential to reduce accidents and increase road safety

Education:

• Analyzing student performance data for targeted

feedback and extra help
