Food Salt

• It is a whitish Crystalline solid.


• Formed by the reaction between sodium and hydrochloric acid.
• It can be found in seawater.
• It is also known as table salt.
• Every cell of your body contains food salt.
• Our body needs about 100 grams of table salt for every 40 kilos of
weight.
• Food salt has 40 per cent sodium and 60 per cent chloride, by weight.

Food Salt Uses

• Used for flavoring and preserving food.


• It is used as a raw material for making a large number of useful
chemicals in industry such as sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate,
baking soda etc.
• It is used in cooking food.
• It is used as a preservative in pickles.
• It is used in the manufacture of soaps.
• It is used to melt ice.
• Salt plays an important role in helping your body function well
Pink Salt
Pink Salt

• Pink salt is rock salt (halite) mined from the Punjab region of
Pakistan.
• The salt, which often has a pinkish tint due to trace minerals, is
primarily used as a food additive to replace refined table salt.
• The product is often promoted with groundless claims that it has
health benefits.
• The trace minerals in this salt are Iron Manganese, Zinc, Calcium and
potassium.
• The sodium content is lower when compared to sea salt or table salt.
• Also known as Himalayan salt.

• As part of cooking, to season meals, and to preserve food.

• Blocks of pink salt sometimes become serving dishes, cooking surfaces,


and cutting boards.
• Some people also use pink Himalayan salt in place of bath salts. It is
also possible to buy lamps and candleholders made of pink salt.
• Some believe that adding a pinch of pink salt to meals or drinks can
help the body achieve optimal fluid balance and prevent dehydration.
• It is true that sodium is necessary to maintain proper fluid balance.
However, this is true of sodium from other sources as well as pink
Himalayan salt.

Pakistan can earn millions of dollars through Himalayan Pink Salt. The salt mined from
the famous Khewra mines is very unique. It is portrayed as one of the purest and most
expensive salts in the world. Due to its amazing benefits, it is being utilized all over
the world as specialty foods. It is in aerated water bath treatments, and even home
decoration. Besides that, it is used in the health sector, and it is also an important
part of different religious activities especially in Hinduism. Pakistan can export
15.09562 metric tons salt to Korea, US, UAE, Canada, Somalia and Spain due to its high
demand in these countries and can earn a millions of rupees of revenue. Pakistan is
making multiple other products such as salt lamps and bath salts and export that too.
