>DEFINITION OF TERMS:
The PRESIDENT as the commander-in-chief of the AFP
exercise strategic direction of the AFP through the secretary of
national defense. He/She likewise exercise command of the AFP
through the chief of staff, AFP.
The SECRETARY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE (SND)
serves as the civilian adviser of the president.
The CHIEF OF STAFF, AFP, who commands the AFP
is the principal military adviser of the president.

>CHAIN OF COMMAND:
A series of administration or military ranks, positions, etc.in
which each has direct authority over the one immediately below, as
for the purpose of issuing orders receiving reports or requests, or
the like.
>ORGANIZATION OF THE AFP:
1. General Headquarters (GHQ)
2. Major services (PA, PN, PAF,)
3. Area commands
4. AFP wide support and separate units
>MISSION OF THE AFP:
Is to defend the republic of the Philippines, safeguard its
national territory and assists the government in socio-economic
programs.
>FUNCTION OF THE AFP:
1. Uphold he sovereignty, support the constitution and defend the
territory of the Philippines against all enemies, foreign or
domestic.
2. Promote and advance the national aims, goals, interest and
policies.
3. Plan, organize, maintain, develop and deploy each regular citizen
reserved forces for national security.
4. Assist and support the government in its task or nation building
and
5. Perform other functions as maybe provided by law or assigned by
higher authorities.
>(GHQ) GENERAL HEADQUARTERS FUNCTIONS
1. To provide command, control and direction to the AFP.
2. To formulate plans and program for the major services.
3. To provide the AFP wide support to include administrative,
training, logistic, technical and special service.
>MAJOR SERVICES COMMAND:
PHILIPPINE ARMY:
Mission- To conduct prompt and sustained ground operation.
Function:1. To organize, train and equip forces for the
conduct of prompt grind and sustained on land, operation.
2. To prepare such units as maybe necessary for the
effective prosecution of the national defense plans and program and
armed forces mission.
3. To develop incorporation with major
services,tactics, techniques and equipment of the army for field
operation.
4. To organize, train and equip all army reserve
units and
5. To perform such functions as maybe provided by
PHILIPPINE NAVY:
Mission-To conduct prompt and sustain naval and maritime
operations.
Functions:1. To organize, train and equip forces for prompt
and sustain naval operations.
2. To prepare necessary naval units for the effective
enforcement of all applicable laws upon the Philippine sea and water.
3. To formulate and develop doctrines,
concepts,system,policies,procedures,strategies, tactics and techniques
for operation peculiar to the navy.
4. To enforce those regulations pertaining to
navigation, safety of life at sea.
5.To organize and equip naval units.
PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE:
Mission- To conduct prompt and sustained air operation.
Functions: 1. To organize, train, and equip force for prompt
and sustained air operation for the defense of the Philippines.
2. To organize, train and equip for air lift,
airborne, and tactical air operations unilaterally or in coordination
with surface forces.
>AFP AREA COMMANDS:
1. The Northern Luzon Command(NOLCOM) Tarlac
2. The Southern Luzon Command(SOLCOM) Lucena
3. The Western Command(WESCOM) Palawan
4. The Visayas Command(VISCOM) Ilo-ilo
5. The Southern Command(SOUTHCOM) Zamboanga
>MAJOR SERVICE RESCOMS AND AFPRESCOM:
1. Army Reserve Command
2. Naval Reserve Command
3. Air Force Reserve Command
Air Force Reserve Command

Mission: To train, organize, develop and administer the


reservist force as the base expansion of for sustained operation
of the PAF

Functions:
1. Serve as reserve pool of manpower during the time
of total mobilization
2. Assist in relief and rescue operations during disaster
and calamities.
3. Assist socio-economic development program of the
AFP in support to national government objective.
4. Assist in the operation and maintenance of essential
government or private utilities in the furtherance of the over-
all mission accomplishment.
AIR FORCE RESERVE CENTER MISSION AND
FUNCTIONS
Mission: To develop, train and utilize the PAF Citizen
Armed Forces
Function 1. Train and develop high school and college
students in the rudiments of military service and produce
capable PAF reservist.
2. Supervises the manpower reserve affair of PAF.
3. Provides a means of promoting aviation, airlift
and tactical support in the interest of natural welfare and
security.
4. Trains PAF Reserve component and affiliated
Reservist.
5. Provides civil assistance during calamities,
disaster/emergencies.
6. Supervises mobilization and assembly tests
