These are some of the advantages of educators’ social networking sites:

● Small groups can collaborate on projects.

● Students can post questions and concerns
● The site can be used to retain teacher notes, videos, podcasts
and other classroom activities.
● Students who are absent can catch up on work.
● Students can develop, collaborate and retain their own efforts over
time.
● Access can be granted to families and others to share the
information

E- learning
E-learning refers to learning that takes place using technology

There are several terms associated with e-learning:

• Distance learning: this term was traditionally applied to paper-based distance

courses delivered by mail.

• Online learning: takes place via the Internet.

• Blended learning: this is a mixture of online and face-to-face course delivery.

Online learning
It is often delivered via a learning “platform” or Virtual Learning
Environment (VLE) also known as a Learner Management System (LMS)

A VLE is a web – based platform on which course content can be stored.

Students can do activities such as quizzes, questionnaires and tests, or use
communication tools like discussion forums or text and audio chat.

Some examples of Virtual Learning Environments are:

• Moodle
• Edmodo
• Classroom
• E-ducativa

Remote teaching
It occurs outside of a physical classroom
Instructors are separated from their learners in time and distance.
It is facilitated through technology, such as video conferences, LMS, radio, etc.

This type of teaching may be:

•  synchronous, where students watch instructors deliver their lectures live
• asynchronous, where students watch lecture recordings at a later point in time.
