Introduction
Nestle was formed in 1905 by the merger of the Anglo-
Swiss Milk Company, established in 1866 by brothers
George Page and Charles Page, and Farine Lactee Heri
Nestle, founded in 1866 by Henri Nestle. The company
grows significantly during the First World War and again
fallowing the Second World War, expanding its
contributions outside its early reduced milk and child
formula products.
Nestle is a Swiss multinational food and drink
processing conglomerate corporation headquartered in
Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland. It is the largest food company in
the world. It ranked no. 64 on the Fortune Global 500 in
2017and no.33 on the 2016 edition of the Forbes Global
2000 list of largest public companies.

Introduction
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) was originally
founded in 1890 as a single brewery in the
Philippines under La Fabrica de Cerveza de San
Miguel. The company has since then transformed
itself from beverage, food and packaging business
into a diversified conglomerate with businesses in
fuel and oil, energy, infrastructure, and real estate
industries.
It is a Filipino multinational publicly listed
conglomerate holding company. It is the Philippines’
largest corporation in terms of revenue, with over
24,000 employees in over 100 major facilities
throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Introduction
SMC has strategic partnerships with international
companies, among them are Kirin Holdings, limited for
beer; Hormel Foods International Corporation for
processed meats; Nihon Yamamura Glass Company for
packaging products; and Korea Water resources
Corporation for its business power.
The Company’s subsidiaries include San Miguel

Introduction
SMC is one of the Philippines’ largest and most
diversified conglomerates, with revenues that
accounted for about 5.9% of the country’s GDP in
2018, through its highly integrated operations in
food and beverages, packaging, fuel and oil, power
and infrastructure.

Problems Encountered
San Miguel Corp. accused of fouling village’s
water for more than a quarter of century, the
largest food and beverage company in the
Philippines has allegedly reneged on its
promises to the residents of Quebiawan, a
village in Pampanga. Worse, the company’s
operations have allegedly destroyed the
village’s sources of water.
