14. Noun –Subject with Phrases
Prepositional Phrase- consists of a
preposition followed by its object.

In this example the main or simple subject is stars

also the stars not the sky is the doer of the action.

Examples: crunching caramel corn

washed with soap and water
15. A participle phrase after a subject does not
affect the subject’s agreement with it’s verb.

within the Dependent Clauses
Relative pronouns agree with the verb in the dependent clause they are in.
Its number must be referred to the number of its closest antecedent.
Example:
Franklin is one of the journalists who often write editorials.

The pronoun “who” is the subject of the dependent clause.

It’s neither singular nor plural, so it can’t help with the verb
choice.
We need to go to the antecedent to answer the
singular/plural question.
The antecedent for “who” is “journalists.” (Structurally,
“who” must refer back to the closest available antecedent.)
