THE EFFECTS
IN THE
SOCIETY
1. Lack of Water

Roughly 1% of the world’s

water is fresh and accessible,
this creates a major issue

It is approximately 70% of
what is available on the
planet by 2025
2. Lower Life Expectancy

Higher demands of resources cause lesser

availability of resources like to medical
care, fresh water, food and jobs,

resulting in a major cause of a fall in lower

life expectancy

3. Extinction

As demand for land grows, so too does

the destruction of natural habitats

Some scientists warn that if present

trends continue, as many as 50% of
the world`s wildlife species will be at
risk of extinction.
4. Increased Intensive Farming

Farming practices have evolved

to produce enough food to feed
larger numbers of people.

However, intensive farming

methods also cause damage to
local ecosystems and the land

correlates to climate change,
as the development of the
industrial capacities arises.

Sexual Violence

Rape is one of the Many women victims

most prevalent forms prefer to maintain their

Philippines. authorities
Rape
Rape is committed under the following circumstances:
■ A man has sexual intercourse with a woman:
– Through force, threat or intimidation;
– When the victim is deprived of reason or is unconscious;
– Through fraudulent machination or grave abuse of authority; and
– When the victim is under 12 years of age or is demented, even if
none of the above conditions are present.
■ Any person who, under any of the above conditions, commits an act of
sexual assault through oral or anal sex or by inserting an instrument or
object into the anal or genital orifice of another person.
In the Philippines, there are two laws
enacted that directly address rape namely:
■ R.A. 8353: The Anti-Rape Law of 1997
■ R.A. 8505: The Rape Victim Assistance and Protection Act of 1998
■ Under R.A. 8353, the penalties for rape perpetrators vary depending on the act itself
and the circumstances surrounding it. These are the following:
■ Reclusion perpetua (imprisonment from 20 to 40 years) is imposed on the offender if
rape is committed through sexual intercourse
■ Prision mayor (imprisonment from six to 12 years) is imposed on the offender if rape
was committed through oral or anal sex or through the use of any object or instrument
that was inserted into the mouth or anal orifice of the woman or a man. This may also
be elevated to reclusion temporal (imprisonment from 12 to 20 years) or reclusion
perpetua depending on the circumstances surrounding the crime.

NATIONAL FAMILY PLANNING PROGRAM
■ Mission
In line with the Department of Health FOURmula One Plus strategy and Universal Health
Care framework, the National Family Planning Program is committed to provide
responsive policy direction and ensure access of Filipinos to medically safe, legal, non-
abortifacient, effective, and culturally acceptable modern family planning (FP) methods.
IMPORTANCE OF
REPRODUCTIVE
HEALTH
EDUCATION
1. To promote family
planning
• 214 million women of reproductive age in
developing countries who want to avoid pregnancy
. are not using a modern contraceptive method.

• Some family planning methods, such as condoms,

help prevent the transmission of HIV and other
. sexually transmitted infections.

• By preventing unintended pregnancy, family

planning /contraception prevents deaths of
. mothers and children.
2. To reduce mental
health issue

Unintended pregnancy contributed to increased

risks of maternal depression and parenting
stress.

An unintended pregnancy is a risk factor for

poor maternal mental health including
perinatal depression, stress, and lower levels of
psychological well-being and life satisfaction
3. To prevent abortion

one of the overarching contributors to the abortion rate

decline is a consistent decrease in teen pregnancies.

The combination of improved access to

contraception and comprehensive sex education are
two crucial pieces to continuing this trend.

When young people are given factual resources on sex

and reducing the risk of unintended pregnancies, they
are better prepared to make informed decisions.
4. To prevent and stabilize
complication from any
chronic illness
•STDs are infections that are transmitted during any type of sexual
contact.

•Common STDs in women include Chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, genital

herpes, and the Zika virus.

•No cure is available for some STDs like HIV or chronic hepatitis
B infection, but medications are available to manage these chronic
conditions.
5. Disseminate facts
regarding the sexual
intercourse
Figuring out if you’re ready, protecting yourself from
pregnancy and STDs, and much more.

Sexually transmitted infections can be spread

during many kinds of sexual activity.

If you don’t consent to sex and someone forces you

to do something sexual, this is sexual assault.
