MISSION

 His mission was to establish a modern


architectural style specific to India and distinct
from European Modernism.
 Correa produced a building for the modern era
which manages to also remain firmly rooted in the
vernacular traditions of India’s past.
GEOGRAPHICAL CONDITION

• Built into a hillside which slopes down toward a


lake.
• The site is generally a sloping plateau
• Natural contours have been used to create a
series of sunken courts and terrace gardens
around which are cultural facilities
• View of lake is visible from all possible terraces

 A studio for an artist-in-residence
