A consultant is a professional who provides expert
advice in a particular area such as management,
education, accountancy, health, law, human resources,
engineering or any of many other specialized fields.

Management consulting is an advisory service provided
to organizations by specially trained and qualified
persons who assist, in an objective and independent
manner, the client organization to identify problems,
analyse such problems, recommend solutions to these
problems and help, when requested, in the
implementation of solutions.

Consultant Charactristics
1. They provide advice and recommendations as well as
assistance with the implementations if required.
2. They have skills, expertise, and intellectual property.
3. They consult (but often forgotten) and engage in dialogue to

the same client but each piece of work is of limited time.
5. They are independent irrespective of internal politics and
vested interest of the organization.
6. They are not paid from organization’s staff budgets.
7. They help to add value to a manager and organization by
