Subject Pronouns
• In English there are seven (7) subject
pronouns: I, you, he, she, it, we, they.
In Spanish, however, the pronoun also
agrees with the gender of its subject,
giving us a greater number of pronouns
than English.

Singular Plural
Yo (I) Nosotros (we)

Nosotras (we–fem. only)
Tú (you – informal) Vosotros (you all –
informal) SPAIN
El (he) Ellos (they)
Ella (she) Ellas (they – fem. only)
Usted (you – formal) Ustedes (you all – formal)

Subject Pronoun Song!
Yo is I.
Tú is you.
El and Ella = he and she.
Usted is you more formally.
Nosotros/Nosotras both mean we!
Ustedes is ya’ll in Southern way.
Vosotros is ya’ll but just in Spain.
Ellos and Ellas both mean they.
And that brings us back to Yo!

actor is in a sentence. When
conjugating verbs in Spanish,
the verb must agree with this
subject.
