I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. describe climate change;
b. discuss the effect of La Niña and El Niño in the Philippines; and
c. appreciate the importance of greenhouse gases
B. Lesson Proper
1. Engage – Anticipatory Set
“getting ready”
- In this activity is an introduction to climate change. This will help assess
learners’ prior knowledge and misconceptions about climate change. The
learners will be grouped.

2. Explore – Guided Practice and Monitoring
“it’s getting hot here”
This activity simulates how greenhouse gasses trap heat. It helps to
explain how the atmosphere prevents heat from escaping the
surface. This is a group activity.
Questions:
1. Which thermometer shows a faster rise in temperature? What happed
to the temperature inside the aquarium?
2. How does the wall of the aquarium relate to greenhouse gases?
3. What traps heat in the atmosphere?
