    I. OBJECTIVES:
    At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
    a. describe climate change;
    b. discuss the effect of La Niña and El Niño in the Philippines; and
    c. appreciate the importance of greenhouse gases

    II. SUBJECT MATTER:

    C. Resources:
    Teacher’s Materials: LCD Projector, Laptop, and Book
    Students’ Materials: Notebook, Ball pen

    III. TEACHING – LEARNING ACTIVITIES


    A. Preliminary Activities
     Prayer
     Greetings
     Settling down and setting of standards
     Checking of attendance
     Review
     Ask the students about the previous topic.

    B. Lesson Proper
    1. Engage – Anticipatory Set
    “getting ready”
    - In this activity is an introduction to climate change. This will help assess
    learners’ prior knowledge and misconceptions about climate change. The
    learners will be grouped.
    -
    2. Explore – Guided Practice and Monitoring
    “it’s getting hot here”
     This activity simulates how greenhouse gasses trap heat. It helps to
    explain how the atmosphere prevents heat from escaping the
    surface. This is a group activity.
    Questions:
    1. Which thermometer shows a faster rise in temperature? What happed
    to the temperature inside the aquarium?
    2. How does the wall of the aquarium relate to greenhouse gases?
    3. What traps heat in the atmosphere?

    Explain – Instructional Process


    “The Higher, the Colder”
     The class will be divided into three groups.
     Each group will be given a table to analyze.
     They will be given two minutes to finish the activity.
     Each group will choose a representative to post their answer.

    3. Elaborate – Independent Practice and Valuing


    “La Niña and El Niño”
     The learners will be grouped each group will make a discussion
    about the effect of La Niña and El Niño in the Philippines. The
    representative of the group will present their work.

    4. Evaluate – Assess Mastery


    In a ½ sheet of paper answer the following questions:
    1. Is a change in statistical distribution of weather patterns when that
    changes last for an extended period of time?
    2. An abnormal and lengthy warming in the eastern part of the Pacific
    Ocean
    IV. ASSIGNMENT
    - Make a creative poem with 5 stanzas about climate change. Write it in a
    long bond paper.
