PE PIPES & FITTINGS
Standard PE Pipes
GPS PE Pipes are extruded in two standard materials -
PE80 (MDPE) and Excel® (PE100) in the following colours:
• Blue - for potable water supply below ground.

• Yellow/Orange - for gas supply below ground.
• Black - for global water and gas supplies, UK potable
water supplies above the ground and industrial (sewage,
mining and quarry) applications above and below ground.
Pipes are available in 6 and 12 metre straight lengths with

other lengths available to order. Pipe up to 180mm OD is
also available in coils of 50m, 100m and 150m and may
be supplied in longer lengths by special order. Pipe can
also be extruded with four co-axial stripes to identify the
contents being conveyed or to identify the application.
Long Spigot & Pupped Fittings

The GPS Long Spigot range offers a comprehensive
choice of fittings suitable for butt-fusion without the need
for pupping (provided that machines with narrow clamps
are used). Products are offered in PE80 Yellow, Blue or
Black as well as Excel® (PE100) Blue or Black. To facilitate
easier jointing on-site, a range of fittings is also offered
with factory-fitted half-metre pups in pipe sizes up to
400mm and with one-metre pups for larger pipe sizes.

Materials
GPS manufactures polyethylene systems in both PE80 and Excel (PE100). The numbers relate to the MRS
(Minimum Required Strength) values of the material.
PE80 – This is the term used to denote the polyethylene material which has been widely used for gas, water and
industrial applications for many years. The terms MDPE and HDPE were commonly used to describe this material,
although MDPE PE80, as historically supplied by GPS, has a much higher long term stress crack resistance than
traditional HDPE PE80.
PE100 – This is a term used to denote high performance polyethylene, and PE100 pipes are sold by GPS under the
brand name of Excel. PE100 is a higher performance material than PE80 and demonstrates exceptional resistance
to rapid crack propagation as well as to long-term stress cracking. Moreover, the higher strength of PE100 permits
thinner pipe walls than PE80 for the same operating pressure. PE100 uses less polymer and provides for a larger
bore and increased flow capacity for a given nominal pipe size. This can result in significant cost savings at certain
sizes and pressure ratings.
PE80 and Excel(PE100) are not recommended for continuous pressure operation at temperatures above 60°C for
liquids, including sewerage and industrial effluents, or 30°C for gaseous fluids. Excel (PE100) has advantages
over PE80 at low temperatures, since it is extremely crack resistant down to -30°C. When considering applications
which exceed the limits stated above, please contact our Technical Support Department for further information.

Dynamic sealing method: The mechanical advantage of the nut thread compresses the seal into position, eliminating

No loose components: If the nut is removed there is no danger of losing components, as the collet and seal ring are
retained in the body of the fitting. Losing components in the trench becomes a thing of the past.
Designed to minimise pipe twist: The fitting has been designed to minimise pipe twist as the nut is tightened.
Maximum pipe twist is approximately a quarter turn compared to one and a half turns with many other fittings. Pipe twist
can impact on not only the connection you have just made but also on the connection at the other end of the line.

Fast and easy installation

Slide & Tighten™ technology: Metric/Imperial™ incorporates all the benefits of Philmac’s unique Slide & Tighten™
technology. No pipe preparation is needed and no force is required to push the pipe past the seal, so installation couldn’t
be faster or easier. Simply insert the pipe fully into the fitting and then tighten the nut. Assembly is so easy you can
even do it under live conditions. No special tools are required, and there is no need to disassemble the fitting before use
because the Metric/Imperial™ compression fitting is supplied pre-assembled and ready to use.
Compact Design: The size of the new Philmac Metric/Imperial™ compression fitting has been kept to a minimum,
making the fitting ideal to use in confined areas. In addition to making connections with minimal turns of the nut,
the design and size of the fitting means that in installations taking place between pipe with two fixed points, the

TAPPING TEES & BOSSED CLAMPS
Tapping tee type SST

Romacon stainless steel tapping tee type SST are used
for permanent (hot) taps on several pipe types for water,
gas and petrochemical fluids.
APPLICATION:
The SST is in fact a reinforced double band clamp with a
flanged outlet. The standard working range is 20mm.
The upper body is reinforced to accomodate the

installation of valves and drilling equipment.

The Hawle-Synoflex socket system provides high
quality restraint connections to all common water
supply pipes. The patented Hawle-Synoflex secures
steel, DCI, PE/PVC and AC* pipes with fully corrosion
protected connections.
Drilling Saddles

Fitting of Ductile Cast Iron according to DIN 8061/8062.

Application for water and neutral media up to 80°C maximum.
OPERATING PRESSURE - 16 BAR (PN 16)

Fittings are made of Ductile Cast Iron GGG 400 in accordance to EN 1563 complete with
SBR or NBR push on type rubber gasket.
SURFACE COATING AND PROTECTION
Externally and internally fusion bonded epoxy coating (powder coating) minimum thickness
of 200 microns.
