Tubing and Fittings meet your processing needs
n ASME BPE
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers have developed a standard for Tubing and Fittings used in the
Pharmaceutical Industry (ASME Bioprocessing Equipment). This covers all aspects of the manufacturing process including
finishes, tolerances and dimensions.
Items covered by this standard are identified with the respective Table No. i.e. 90 Deg. Bend WW Table DT-7.
n ISO 9002 QUALITY SYSTEM
To ensure that we constantly maintain the standards stated our manufacturing and Quality System conforms to ISO 9002.
SFL have a continual commitment to quality and the system is audited internally and externally.
n PRODUCT RANGE
Product range covers sizes from 1/4” O.D. to 6” O.D. in tubing, weld end fittings suitable for orbital welding and clamp
ended fittings.
n DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCES
Tolerances on weld ended products are suitable for closed head orbital welding. Tolerances on squareness and wall thickness
comply with ASME BPE.
n SURFACE FINISH
Choice of 0.38 µm (15 Ra) to 0.8 µm (32 Ra) mechanical finish and 0.25 µm (10 Ra) to 0.5 µm (20 Ra) electropolished
finish on I.D. Finish on O.D. to suit customers requirements either Mill finish or sateen polished.
n CONTROLLED CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
All contact parts are manufactured from T316L quality materials. Sulphur is controlled at weld point to 0.005% minimum
and 0.017% maximum to ensure good quality orbital welds. Part of our Quality Control is to check that the raw materials
purchased conform to the Chemical Analysis stated on the Material Certificate, this is carried out by an independent
laboratory.
n TRACEABILITY
All materials are traceable back to the original Material Certificates. To ensure full traceability SFL mark all T316L
products with their manufacturing works order number in addition to their cast/heat number.
n MARKINGS
All products are marked with cast/heat number, works order number, ASME BPE table number and SFL logo.
n PACKAGING
Tubing is supplied with ends capped and sleeved in polythene, end heat sealed. Fittings are capped and heat sealed in
polythene.

Pre-fabrication of pipework can help you make considerable savings
in installation time and costs. Stainless Fittings has a great deal of
experience in this area, and can offer you help and advice in
determining the best design for the application.
By working directly from your isometric drawings or CAD disk,
sections can be pre-constructed using orbital welding techniques,
which are left as laid, and also manual, dressed and polished TIG
welds. This ensures that your processing environment remains pit
and crevice free, whilst reducing on-site welding requirements.

qualifications and procedures, x-
rays and video recordings of welds,

Pipework Supports
The lines must be adequately suppported to prevent strain on fittings, valves and
equipment connections. Proper supports are an important and integral part of
every piping system. The following general rules should be followed:
• Straight piping runs should be supported at least every ten feet.
• Supports should be used on each side of every valve, as close to the
connections as possible.
• There should be a support at each change of direction of the pipeline.
• Where pipelines pass through walls, floors or ceiling, clearance should be
provided around the pipe to allow it to move during expansion and
contraction.
