Mindmap of ideas for your installation

Create a mindmap showing ideas of how you might install your video.
Define what type(s) of visuals you will use.
(Eg. video cameras, still cameras, hand crafted artwork, film, animation, digital technologies)

Installation / set sketches

Draw a series of thumbnail sketches showing ideas for your installation. Add labels to your diagrams to
identify equipment, where the image will be seen, where the audience will stand etc.

Sound design

What sound will your Productions have?

We will be having the dialog from our multimedia work, this will involve the music and text that is involved
in each multi camera production. This is so the audience is able to hear what is being sad, and engage
with the people who are on camera.

Will you use headphones or speakers for this sound?

We will be using headphones during the production

Why?
This is because the audience is able to have a clear understanding of what the actors are saying, and
in some sense build a bond with them. Engaging them in the text is the most important aspect as
then they will know the topic of conversation and become more interested in the action.

Lighting design

What lighting will you have in your installation? Consider health and safety. The lights will based on
the floor, shining up at the wall that our work will be presented on to. This will brighten up the production
and make it look more interesting over the other installations. The health and safety issues with this is
that someone may not see the lights on the floor, and trip on them or stand on them, causing a trip or fall.
Also another issue would be that the lights would get very hot over the course of the day, which would
burn someone if they were to touch it.

Sketch out your lighting plans for the installation.

Projection vs screen
Will you project your video or play it on a screen?
This be projected onto the wall.

Why? This is because it is more

intresting for the audience, and
means that the wall print will give off
extra artistic detail for the audience to
ejoy. It also means that the work has a
lot more space to be based round in,
rather than staying still on a screen,
the work will be able to flow with the
wall frame, which looks a lot better in
our opinion. If you are using a screen, will you
use a single screen, or multiple
screens?
Wont be using a screen

If you are projecting what

will you project ONTO? (ie
fabric, screen, materials etc)
This will be projected onto the
wall which is based in the old fire
station in Henley town. This is
because it will be clear enough
for the audience to see what is
happening but in a clearer way
rather than being shown on fabric
or different materials based on
the texture of the work.
How will that change how your
audience READS your
animation?
This will mean that the audience is
able to see the story clearly, and
understand the work that we are
showing, rather than involving
multiple screens which could
become more confusing for the
audience to follow and come up
with their own conclusion.

Technological convergence

What is technological convergence?

This is when new technologies are created that perform the same task as past technologies but in
a more efficient and better way

Will you be using this in your installation?

No we will not be using technological convergence in our video installation

Explain your answer.

For our video installation, we will be using a projector to project the video onto the walls.
Technological conversion is where you use new and improved technology. Projectors arent new
technology, they have been around for a while and there has been new technology created since the
making of projectors.

us to create our design into

lighting Because there is a lot of

lighting when can have a
lot of lights to make it
stand out like a game

All the sound will be
coming through
headphones so should be a
screens / projectors
We will be using a
projector to project the
media onto the wall
speakers / headphones Each screen will have
headphones so people can
look at each show easily
and will be able to hear it

Copyright issues

What potential copyright issues could your installation infringe?

With our production of multi camera work, we used a green screen that we decided what
background image to use, we didnt create this ourselves and took it from another creator. This is
an issue because the person may not want us to use that work, therefore to over come this we
would include those artists at the end credits, to make them know that we are fairly using their
work but including their names in it. Also when there is music involved, that we didnt create
ourselves the creator may not want us to use that song for the work we are doing, to over come
this we will send out an email to the producers to ask if it is ok and also include them at the end
credits too, so that the audience know them and understand that we did not complete the work
ourselves, in terms of music and back screens.

How can you be certain that the work you are displaying does not violate any
copyright infringements?
By only using our own work rather than using someone elses, all speech and music
would be approved by the owner before use so that there isnt any issues of us taking
work from someone else. As we will be using other people multi camera work, we have
to confirm that is ok with them in order to not cause any issues on the day.
