Cathodic protection power supplies, more commonly known as rectifiers, are used to power impressed current cathodic
protection systems. Very simply stated, a cathodic protection rectifier converts supplied AC input power to usable DC
output power. The supplied DC power is adjusted to the required output levels needed to power the cathodic protection
system.
Rectifiers are available in a vast array of sizes and types and the list of available optional accessories is impressive. The
following pages describe many of these types and options but certainly do not cover every available product. For more
information on these products, please contact your local Farwest office for assistance.
Air-cooled rectifiers are the most common type of rectifiers used in the cathodic protection industry. Convection, or the
natural transfer of air, removes the heat generated by the rectifier components. While this is the most popular means of
cooling, an oil cooled unit should be considerad in severa dust, salt air or if other airborne contaminants are present.
Standard Line*
The Farwest Corrosion standard* line of cathodic protection rectifiers is recognized as the leader in quality and workmanship.
Many years of field proven service have led to the design of these standard rectifiers. Conservative output ratings, controlled
manufacturing techniques and many component features insure long and trouble free operation.

Built to the same specifications as the Standard Line, automatic potential control rectifiers are electronically controlled via a
remate permanent reference electrode. The rectifier senses the reference electrode structure to electrolyte potential and
automatically adjusts the output to maintain a desired structure potential. Each unit also includes a set of manual control taps
as a backup control method as well as current and voltage limiters. An optional IR free control circuit is also available.
ULApproved
Where UL approval or third party certification is needed, the UL Approved series is an excellent rectifier choice. Available in
thirty-five output ratings (maximum 1500 watts), these rectifiers are similar in concept to standard rectifiers but provide UL
Approval for special circumstances.
STANDARD FEATURES:
Thir~y-_five standard sizes Hinged control panel far access to
Ventilation barriers components
UL Approved paint Removable slide-out chassis
Dual cabinet locks

SW Series
An alternate to the Standard Line, the SW Series features a lift-off design case, which permits unlimited accessibility for
routine maintenance and inspection. The rectifier components are mounted on an 11-gauge chassis panel for easy removal.
This simplified design reduces manufacturing costs and provides a rectifier that is ideally suited for many applications.
