To Whom This May Concern:
I am writing this letter in strong support of Danielle Schwartzs application for a special
education teaching position in your district. As a principal, I had the pleasure of working with
Danielle and observing her practice with middle school students. I have consistently
maintained that she is one of the best special education teachers in the business. Danielle
knows her students well and works to forge strong relationships with them. She truly embodies
a growth mindset, believes that all students can succeed, and holds all students to high
expectations. Danielle works hard to design and collaborate on lessons with multiple entry
points, scaffolds and extensions to meet the needs of all learners. In her ICT class, students can
be observed working in small groups on a specific skill or standard that needs remediation.
Danielle plans with student outcomes in mind- grouping students strategically and deploying
herself to meet the outcomes of the lesson. One of Danielles strengths is being able to listen
and observe her students to quietly assess where they are in meeting the outcomes of the
lesson, and then intervening when necessary to challenge or support. All of this is not possible
without thoughtful planning and preparation- a practice that Danielle engages in consistently,
reflectively, and collaboratively.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Danielle supported teachers as a Learner Active coach,
providing and designing professional development to support teachers in their practice and to
integrate technology as a tool for engagement and assessment.
Danielle is student-centered in her practice and her thinking. She is a wonderful addition and
resource to any staff. I have said repeatedly that Danielle is a practitioner that I would
welcome teaching my own children. She is a learner, an active participant, and contributor in
the community.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any additional questions.
Sincerely,
