Production of biodiesel from calabash plant (2011): In the quest for alternative source of oil, used the
aforementioned plant seed oil (non-edible) for production of biodiesel which was in the acceptable limit for fuel
based on the American Society for Testing and Measurements (ASTM) and the European Union (EU)
standards.
Desulfurization of model fuel using silver nanoparticles coated electro-membrane flow reactor (2015): We
developed Silver nanoparticles coated electro-membrane flow reactor for the first time for the removal of sulfur
compounds in crude oil. Diesel was used as a model for the crude oil. A wide range of sulfur compounds;
thiophene, benzothiophene, methylbenzothiophene, dimethylbenzothiophene, dibenzothiophene, and
methyldibenzothiophene were tested for removal.
Designed and fabricated a microreactor for solar photochemical reaction applications. (2016): We fabricated a
capillary flow reactor and applied for photochemical reactions on a micro scale under sunlight irradiation in
Saudi Arabia. Alpha aminonitrile was synthesized in good to excellent yields based on conversion under
shorter reaction time compared to the conventional batch systems under LED (Light emitting diodes)
irradiation
Extraction of heavy metals in seawater samples around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (2014-2016): oversaw
sample processing for the sea water samples collected across the kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the center
for environment and water in the research institute of the King Fahd University of petroleum and minerals
Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Pyrolysis of outcrop source rock samples for hydrocarbon profiling using GC-MS (gas chromatography mass
spectrometry) pyrolyzer (2015): carried out an in-situ GC-MS-pyrolyzer for the hydrocarbon profiling of outcrop
rock samples collected from the southern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
