My Joys and Pain

As a Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiary. I would like to take this
opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO).
Especially to our respected Governor Attorney Edgar M. Chato and to Officer in charge/ Provincial
PESO Manager Maria Vilma C. Yorong, and all of the people who participated and build this kind of
organization. This program changed my life. I wish all of the success of your company. It helps me a lot
especially for those students with lock of money. Receiving this SPES beneficiary will help reduce my
financial burdens and provide assistance for me as I continue pursuing my education.
First of all I want to express my feelings regarding to the one of the requirements is the age must
be at least not more than 24 years old. And now I am turning 25. First I was happy that I passed the
exam but then when I read it I felt sad. This is my first time to join SPES, it means this is my first and
last SPES Summer Job because of your policy. I hope that the age requirements must be higher than 24
so that we can also have the opportunity to continue our studies. That age doesnt matter in terms of
ability to work.
Being a part of Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in 25 working days was a
life changing experience. It is life changing, because it changed my decision. Before summer job came
theres a lot of problems Ive encountered. Actually I grew up in Manila then I transfer here in Bohol
because of my husband. Theres a lot of differences language, place, people. Boholanos language make
me weak. Being a full time mom, taking care of my child and being student is hard. Some of my
classmates bullied me because of my simplicity. Communication gap between my husband discourage
me and also lock of money. Thats why Ive decided to go to Manila. To continue my studies. But before
that I asked god give me a sign. If Ill pass these SPES I pursue my studies and continue to live here in
Bohol. Then god answered me. That is why it is life changing. It is hard but because of SPES helped me
define who I wanted to be in the future and how I could make a difference. My experience as a SPES
continue to impact me and to influence the decisions I make.
In my Twenty-five (25) working days in our job theres a lot of unforgettable moments Ive been
experience. This begins in two words Joy and Pain. When I was accepted as a SPES beneficiary, it gives
me Joy. Enlighten me each day. An eye opener. Because every day is a challenge. Different peoples
point of view, places that gives me a guide especially in our job that opened my mind, have a brief
background of what is work. Especially appreciating the hard work of our parents do to there kids to
send school. That education is the biggest treasure that parents gives to their child. That money cannot
easily found we need a lot of hard work. Because of summer Job it builds my confidence by working by
others. I could say that this is not just an ordinary job but a mentuous experienced brought into my life.
It makes me cheerful and grieve.
Summer Job is fun and exciting can also create friends. I am so thankful that I am assigned in
Agriculture Office Headed by Rhea Mendoza. And the faculty members they treat us like a family and
also sometimes they treat us a snack. Having lunch together and learn more about each others personal
lives only strengthened those relationships. It was a great experience having them they are generous and
kind. I learned quickly that one of the best ways to make work enjoyable was to make friends.
Providing new skills and knowledge especially in handling computer work, Otherwise it
enhance my typing ability. Doing Office work data encoding and many more I am assigned in Office of
the Provincial Veterinarian next in Municipal Agriculture Office. It talks about how to take care of our
self especially if you have dogs and cats being a responsible pet owners and have a vaccine for antirabies. They have desire and mission to fight against rabies contamination. Teach children about how to
avoid dog bites and the risk of rabies. That vaccinating dogs, an essential part of reducing human rabies
deaths involves teaching children how to avoid dog bites and what to do if you are bitten
Now lets talk about pain. In our job I didnt feel pain because Im enjoying it. It gives me
strength that molds me to be stronger. It is one of my stepping stone a pathway towards success because
of my grateful experience. Actually I am happy that I am part of it. It is just like a challenged to me
thanks for my co-workers I may say that I am better now looking forward facing a new challenges in my
life. My experiences in these summer job helps me a lot building new knowledge and skills. If I
encountered problem soon my memories in Summer Job is one of my strength that I can surpass my
problems.
Once again, thank you for supporting us. Your generosity truly makes a difference
