The 2010 Vintage Electrics brochure has old favourites, and a
host of new models, finishes, features and innovations as the
comprehensive range of Vintage instruments continues to evolve.
Once again, internationally renowned guitarmeister Trev Wilkinson
has been responsible for the blueprint and specifications of each
guitar in the Vintage range - your confidence in your choice of
new Vintage guitar or bass is backed up by Trevs worldwide
reputation.
Trev Wilkinson loves guitars and everything that goes with them.
His enthusiasm for guitars is infectious. His knowledge of the
guitar genre is boundless. He maintains a constant interest in why
the best guitars are how they are, what works and what doesnt,
and what can be done about it. Hell ask direct and forthright
questions of the people who matter, people responsible for some
of the best guitars ever made, and people whove played the best
guitars ever made. He looks for straight answers, and then gets
to work with what hes found out.
This latest Vintage Electric brochure demonstrates exactly how
much effort Vintage and Trev Wilkinson have been putting into
their guitar range - and thats a lot. As a result, Vintage has a
collection of fantastic guitars and basses on offer, all with the
usual truly incredible levels of specification attention to detail, and
dare we say it; VALUE. All of which help Vintage to be such a
huge success.
Vintage instruments draw heavily on the classic 1950s electric
guitar shapes but with a pro appeal which has been achieved by
designing a range of guitars that even experienced players will
feel they can stay with - guitars that wont be outgrown, in fact.
If you need convincing, just see how many major pro names are
now using Vintage guitars as their main instrument, in some
instances even adopting a Vintage guitar as their signature model
- surely there can be no higher personal recommendation of a
guitars abilities?
They choose Vintage cos they understand the whole ethos of the
Vintage brand, that it performs, and over delivers.
A guitar like the Vintage V6 Thomas Blug Signature model is a
perfect example. A meticulous tone hound, the German guitarist,
famous for his venerable 61 double cutaway bodied electric and
melodic, eclectic style of virtuoso rock guitar, spent many hours
with Trev Wilkinson in his workshop as they examined the various
unique features developed and applied by Thomas to his own
guitar over two decades-plus of ownership and hard use and
incorporated them in to the Blug signature V6.
Thomas himself offers a verdict of breathtaking when he
considers the end result - and hes known for being impossibly
hard to please in such matters...
Now a huge internationally-successful range, the Vintage Icon
series of pre-distressed instruments offer a totally different vibe.
Nothing looks as cool as a guitar thats obviously seen some
serious use where the instruments character shines through the
worn finish, saying this guitar has paid its dues. It feels special
to hold, and special to play.
But how many people can afford that so-special, hard-worn
vintage instrument of their dreams? That special instrument
which displays a unique level of wear from decades of playing -
at home, countless rehearsal sessions, smokey pubs to working
mens clubs, used on literally hundreds of gigs and tours at home
and abroad? And how many guitarists can wait 20 years before
their own guitar starts to show that kind of time-related character?
Now you dont have to wait. You dont even have to re-mortgage
the house to make the payment. Vintage and Trev Wilkinsons
specially-aged electric guitar range ticks all those boxes. These
fantastic guitars, fully equipped with equally aged Wilkinson
tuners, hardware and pickups look like theyve been played for
decades with all the marks, wear and tear to prove it. Theyve
been through the mill but theyre cool and ready for the next gig.
If this is your thing and these are the guitars of your dreams, why
not get one of the Vintage Icon guitars and save 40 years of your
life!.....
If new brightnshiny is your thing, well we do that too, in spades,
with a terrific collection of guitars and basses in all styles, all
made to the same high standards, with incredible specification
and playability, all achieved as a result of our determination to
show the world what happens when the satisfaction of the player
is put above mere commercial concerns.
How does Vintage manage to offer such incredible instruments at
the kind of prices that literally anyone can afford?
The magic is in using knowledge for good, doing it right, 'cos
that's the right thing to do, because guitarists, young and old,
new and hard bitten deserve the best, without compromise!
At Vintage, weve proven that with care, and a stated intent to
prove a point, we can bring all the elements together to make the
end result much more than just the sum of the parts.
What really makes the difference is NOT just build down to a
price, but instead designing in quality, building up to and achieving
an aspiration to excel.
Then, with care, consistency, attention to detail, precision and
rigorous QC, its possible to build great guitars to sell at a price
that wont break anyones bank.
Whatever your guitar or bass needs, theres a Vintage instrument
that suits you.
Players guitars designed for guitar players. Its that simple.

Over recent years, guitar enthusiasts have admired the virtuosic electric
guitar style of Thomas Blug, one of Europes most respected players. In
addition, Thomas work as a product development consultant and product
demonstrator for Hughes & Kettner guitar amplification means he is a reg-
ular must-see feature at music expos and shows worldwide, alongside his
own sought-after CD releases and tuition DVDs, as well as
performances with the Thomas Blug Band which includes keyboardist This
Van Leer, erstwhile mainstay of Dutch rock legends, Focus.
Thomas has one of the most recognisable guitar sounds in the world, play-
ing with a fluid, melodic and powerful style, and has over the years,
become synonymous with his much-loved and instantly recognisable elec-
tric guitar, a well-used faded Olympic White 61.
As a player who has been the inspiration to thousands of players, Thomas
chose Trev Wilkinson, and UK guitar brand Vintage

it is possible to create in a signature guitar an instrument which faithfully

recreates the unique attributes of his beloved 61.
With its battle-scarred body, custom electronics and personalised switch-
ing all added to the already exceptionally well-specd Vintage

ICON
Series

V6 guitar, players looking for an edge with this iconic design, and
who also perhaps aspire to emulate Thomas spine-tingling sound, can
now buy exactly the same instrument which he uses in his day-to-day work.
Outstanding, comments Thomas on his Vintage

guitar. To achieve all this, in an instrument which literally anyone can
afford, even a first time buyer, is an unbelievable result.

Features
In addition to the already high specification of the Vintage ICON V6, the Thomas
Blug SIGNATURE Series V6 guitar also features;
Classic 21 fret neck, with 7 1/4 radius fingerboard camber, and medium jumbo
frets for a positive, authentic vintage feel.
Authentic 60s style aluminium shielding under scratchplate to reduce inducted
hum and static noise.
Reverse polarity middle position pickup plus auto bypass of dummy coil in
positions 2 and 4.
Thomas secret weapon - a No treble loss condenser in the volume pot circuit.
Switchable dummy coil for reduced hum and less glassy tone with overdrive
sounds via the Thomas Blug Bu ka

switch, (push-push action) on the second

tone control.
...What does Thomas particularly like about his Vintage

SIGNATURE Series

V6?
Simple really, classic vintage feel, awesome authentic tone and a cool vibe
all at the price of the good old days...
Ive been associated with just one guitar for so many years now, and for me this
classic electric guitar design has always been the most versatile and expressive
guitar of all times, and contributed so much to my personality as a player, my style
and my music.
So why should I change a design that has all the basic character I love?
Since I always wanted just one guitar to play on stage, I came up with some
improvements which take nothing away from the original tone, but help my guitar
work in the modern world, particularly with overcoming the issues with high gain
modern amps, and extreme whammy bar use.
With my Vintage SIGNATURE Series V6 youll get all the Thomas Blug electronic
tricks, the hallmark tones and mechanical improvements, all imbued with a lot of
vintage spirit.
My original 61 guitar is just so precious to me, and so valuable, its getting more
and more difficult to even justify taking it to work.
When I challenged Vintage, and Trev Wilkinson to make me a credible replica of my
61, I had no idea the guitar would be so good, so close to the original that I seam-
lessly swap between the two.
My 61 is priceless; My Vintage SIGNATURE Series V6 is no compromise,
and less price.
Awesome...!

If you have a taste for something different but at
the same time so well known, this is your bass.
Now you can get the true flavour of those famous
bass lines from one of the most distinctive jazz rock
bass players ever - check the fretless neck with the
fret lines and dot markers still visible; no scratch-
plate but with the screw holes still open, and only
the chrome control panel plate left; oooh... that

This classic 3-saddle design has been around for over 50 years
and is still regarded as the ultimate tone machine. Staggered
brass saddles offer individual string intonation never before
available in a design of this type, still widely regarded as the tone
machine. The baseplate itself is a faithful reproduction of the
original, made from steel, very important in a bridge of this style
due to the tonal effect it has on the magnetic field of the pickup
mounted in it.

In terms of looks and attitude, few guitars can match the out
and out appeal of the Vintage V100. Offering an extraordinarily
high level of specification, the build quality and constructional
detail of the Vintage V100 includes a solid mahogany body and
neck mated in true set neck fashion for maximum tone-
enhancing rigidity. An accurately-carved gently arched body top
additionally adds to the V100s distinctive look. The mahogany
and maple tonewoods are the ideal recipe for the kind of
sounds that this style of guitar is renowned for - smokey, sultry,
sweet-toned bluesy licks with a warm jazzy feel from the neck
pickup help soothe the soul with an emotional calm. Charging
to the other extreme with a flick of the 3-way selector switch
allows the back pickup to rage and rampage through high gain
amplification like no other.
The Vintage V100 is a perfect example of Trev Wilkinsons
fascination with tone. Whilst working in California, Trevs
development work in the guitar industry led him to a meeting

with the father of the humbucking pickup, Seth Lover.
Recognising a kindred enquiring and inventive guitar spirit, Seth
Lover imparted to Trev the exact specification of the mythical
pickup units he designed, and that same authentic vintage
voiced recipe is what Trev uses in the V100s humbuckers to
ensure you can get that elusive iconic tone from the Vintage
V100.
The V100s rock solid chassis allows for positive string anchoring
and location with the precision-manufactured Tune-O-Matic
bridge and stop bar tailpiece. On the elegantly-shaped head-
stock, a set of three-a-side Wilkinson WJ44 tuners offers both
the precise tuning feel and accuracy youd expect from this type
of guitar and - of course - the correct look, too.

One word best describes the semi-acoustic genre of electric guitar
- versatile. Originally designed to be the link between the original
big bodied jazz box guitar styles from the swing and big band
musical eras of the 1930s and 40s, and the then-new boy on
the block in the 50s, the smaller-sized solid body electric guitar,
the slim-bodied semi-acoustic offered the best of both worlds in
many respects.
Tonally they offer the depth and smoothness of the bigger jazzers,
backed with the firepower and versatility of solid body electrics.
And while the solid body electrics went on to grab the headlines
and the glory, the more reserved nature of the semi-acoustic
models appealed to players across a wide range of styles who
appreciated the do-anything nature of these user-friendly
guitars. Theres just something about all that extra air inside
the body of these semi-acoustics that helps add a notably
additional sweetness to their sound thats hard to resist.
The newest addition to the Vintage range of semi-acoustics, the
VSA590, stays commendably faithful to the constructional

traditions of the big-bodied slimline semi. However, the VSA590
features a solid central internal body wood section into which
the nickel-covered dog ear P90 pickups are mounted through
the accurately-shaped arched body top. As well as increasing
the tonal range and depth of the VSA590, this type of build
helps eliminate any potential feedback problems.
Also increasing the already-considerable appeal of these high-
spec accurately-constructed Vintage semis is the fabulous new
addition of a VSA535 12-string. This format undoubtedly offers
huge tonal interest to fans of that gorgeous ringing 12-string
jangle, with that so-distinctive lush and resonant ring - this guitar
sounds like an orchestra on its own!
These exciting new guitars, of course, join the existing VSA535

players who appreciate a truly attractive and impressive-looking
instrument. And with a sound which will flatter any musicians
playing in various genres of music, isnt that what were all

Basses2010
Bass; The fundamentals, delivering low register notes with
accomplished authority.
Its reassuring to note that an ever-increasing number of discerning
bassists, from the enthusiastic amateur to the hardened professional
who depends on the performance of their bass guitar for their living
know that, when it counts, Vintage basses can be counted on to
deliver.
From the more traditional style of bass guitar which has been a
stalwart performer of the music industry for almost six decades,
through to the beautiful and exotic wood graining of more
contemporary, boutique-style neck-thru-body instruments, Vintage
basses are infused with designer Trev Wilkinsons unique and
invaluable knowledge, unquestionably a key element in setting the
Vintage bass guitar range apart with the almost imperceptible
nuances and finesse.
And what of the musicians who use Vintage basses? Legendary UK
session and touring bassist, John McCoy (Gillan, GMT, etc) for
instance, whose uniquely thundering yet melodic bass style naturally
drew him towards the merits of the equally rock-solid Vintage V4
Icon. If you've ever seen John's original much-used bass guitar that
he's owned since 1968, then it's no surprise that he also feels most
at home with the pre-distressed Vintage Icon finish. And that works
so well for John that when he declares his V4MRSSB Icon to be
..fg incredible - it feels like Ive been playing it for years, well,
were not arguing...
Thru-necks, active, passive, user-friendly organic downsized bodies,
4 and 5-string options, distressed finishes, luxury boutique-style
finishes, traditional designs, contemporary designs... Or, if you have
a taste for the more extreme, Metal Axxe bass guitars could be your
ideal weapon of choice; elegant yet aggressive, these basses are
punchy and powerful performers, totally guaranteed to get you
noticed.
The 2010 Vintage bass guitar line-up is a feasting frenzy for four
and five string fans. Looks. Build quality. Premium grade Wilkinson
pickups and hardware. Top playing performance. Attitude. Style.
Vintage basses - ready when you are.
Why compromise?
Vintage doesnt.

The new Vintage V1004 and V1005 5-string basses are superb,
high performance, neck-through-body instruments, featuring a
5-ply neck section of nato and maple, maximising the amount of
mechanical energy from the string excursion being delivered to
the magnetic field of the pickup, bringing out the inherent
natural tones of the woods used, and adding sustain, clarity,
definition and power.
Body wings of mahogany, give a sleek, striking, contemporary
look with the extended top horn providing optimum balance.
The elegant, sculptured body is capped with a book matched,
quilted maple veneer, and a scintillating cherry sunburst finish
on the four string, and book matched tiger eye quilted maple
finished in glowing translucent amber on the 5-string version,
both with matching raked back straight string pull headstocks.
These luxurious finishes are perfectly complemented by Gold
plated hardware.

On both 4 and 5-string versions, the thru-neck, scooped
cutaways and heel-less design maximises playing access.
The versatile two-octave rosewood fingerboard and low
profile neck makes for excellent playability.
Tone, the Holy Grail, inhabits the V1000 series basses with a
vengeance. With the massive cast bridge, rock solid saddles,
hi-output balanced pickups, and active tone circuitry, all
complementing the thru neck construction, these basses
produce awesome, deep penetrating bass, controllable, musical
mids, and sparkling highs.
The Vintage V1000 basses give you the power and freedom to
be creative!
