Specific Gravity: Melting Point: NA Evaporation Rate: (BU ACETATE=1) >1
Other: pH2
Flash Point (F) / Method: None Flammable Limits: NA Extinguishing Media: None required Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Spray drums exposed to a fire with a heavy stream of water to prevent rupture from overheating. If large spills occur on concrete floors during fires, provide good ventilation to allow the carbon dioxide gas, released from the reaction of the Scale Gone with the concrete, to dissipate. Unusual Fire &Explosion Hazards: None
SECTION 5-HEALTH HAZARD DATA Route(s) of Entry: INGESTION
Health Hazards: None from the vapors. Mists will irritate respiratory system. Contact with the concentrate will cause eye irritation. Ingestion will cause gastrointestinal tract irritation, which will result in severe diarrhea. Prolonged skin contact with the concentrate may cause mild irritation of sensitive skin areas. Open skin areas will be irritated by contact with the concentrate.
Carcinogenicity: NTP? No IARC Monographs? No WHMIS Regulated? No
Effects of Overexposure: Eye irritation upon contact with the concentrate. Also irritates sensitive skin and open skin areas. Severe diarrhea and gastrointestinal irritation from ingestion of concentrate. If concentrate is misted it will cause respiratory irritation.
Medical Conditions aggravated by exposure: None
Emergency & First Aid Procedures: Wash from eyes with water until irritation stops. If it persists, see a physician. If ingested in any large amount, drink lots of water, take anti-acids and see a physician immediately. Wash from sensitive and open skin areas with soap and water. Remove all contaminated clothing to prevent long term skin contact, wash and dry before re-use. Avoid misting product during use. If misting occurs wear a dust or mist type mask to prevent inhalation. If inhalation of mist occurs, go to fresh air until irritation stops.
SECTION 6-REACTIVITY DATA SECTION 7-SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES Stability: Stable Conditions to Avoid: None Incompatibility: Strong alkalies and metal oxides. Also reacts with soft metals such as aluminum, magnesium or zinc to give off hydrogen, which is flammable. Reacts with carbonates, limestone and cement floors to give off carbon dioxide gas. Hazardous Decomposition Products: None Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur Steps to be taken if material is released or spilled: Keep large quantities of the product out of waterways. When spilled, dike area to keep material out of waterways until after neutralization. Material reacts with cement floors and drains before it is neutralized, so neutralize immediately by adding 2.7 lbs. Of soda ash or 2.85 lbs. of lime per gallon of the Scale Gone 35 concentrate that was spilled. Using lots of wash water, send the neutralized material to a sanitary sewer for sewage plant treatment. Sewer small quantities and wash down with lots of water. Material is non-toxic to animals, humans and aquatic species. It is rapidly biodegradable in activated sludge sewage plants. Waste disposal method: Comply with Federal, State and local regulations. If the material is unused or was used to remove non- toxic oxides such as iron or calcium, dispose of by neutralizing and sewage treating as described above. If the material has been used for cleaning, less alkali will be required for neutralization. If it has been used to clean copper, brass, nickel, chrome or other toxic heavy metals it CAN NOT be sewered and must be concentrated and disposed of as a toxic waste. Contact a licensed toxic waste hauler for proper disposal.
SECTION 8-SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION SECTION 9-SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS Respiratory Protection: None required, when used as directed. If misting occurs wear a facemask or other respiratory protection and leave area to avoid exposure. Ventilation: None required, when used as directed. Ventilate area if material is spilled on cement floors or accidental misting occurs. Protective Gloves: Rubber or vinyl gloves recommended Eye Protection: Safety glasses or goggles Other Protective Equipment: Work area must be provided with an eye wash fountain, sink for washing from the skin and a safety shower for extensive exposure to a major spill. Hygienic Practices: Normal cleanliness. Wash from skin with soap and water before meals, after work and each time contact occurs. Precautions to be taken in handling and storage: Store only in plastic or plastic lined drums or tanks. Do not store in steel, galvanized steel, aluminum or other metal containers.
