Epic
I am always listening for popular words and phrases which reflect our culture. I am embarrassed that I once actually used the word, groovy. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard one of my children use the word like in any possible form in a sentence. We could pay off the National Debt if we had similar currency for how many times awesome is mentioned. New cool word alert Epic! I recently heard a young man in his 20s refer to one of our ministries in such a fashion. We are living in Gods epic moment when He stretches out His hand (Acts 4:30). Unlike the ad for marble, we are not looking for the Superman sign guy, but we can truly say, Its really big! We have a Super Savior Who answers prayer! Many prayers are being offered up this weekend, as we bring our offerings and two-year commitments to pay off our remaining debt on our facilities. Church members received a special envelope in the mail to be used to indicate giving and pledging. Envelopes are in the chair racks. There is also a place to check your desire to keep on praying for our church. At the end of the worship service, as an expression of worship and dedication, we will go to one of the special ASK containers and put the envelopes in them. We take these sacred gifts and bring them into the house of the Lord, the money that a mans heart prompts him to bring, as we put them in these chests (2 Kings 12:4, 5, 9). In the fall, God prompted one of our men to help us to pay off our debt. I realized in a unique way then that God was not only calling us to prayer, but to believe Him for a weekend of epic proportions. This brother and another man challenged some fellows in a prayer group to give early gifts of $1,145,000 that some might call matching funds. We are within striking distance. Its our turn. A dad and his family were asking God to help a missionary with his finances. After the prayer time, the young son said, Dad, if I had your checkbook, I could answer your prayer. Of course, we know that God is The Giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). However, we not only ask and seek, but we also knock and use what He has put into our hands and pockets (Matt. 7:7). All debt must be manageable. We made a commitment to pay off our debt on Phases 1 and 2 in a reasonable time. Unlike the federal government, we refuse to dig a deeper and deeper hole of unsustainable debt. We want to be freed up to hear God, release resources, begin new projects and ministries, and of course, repair 12-year old equipment and facilities. God will ask us at some point as did the king, Why are you not repairing the house of the Lord? (2 Kings 12:4, 7). We will continue to be on the offense. If we are not going forward, we tend to slide back. Lets pray according to Psalm 90:17: Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands. Now, thats truly epic!

The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry Movie
Kirk Cameron said about this Christian film (starring Gavin MacLeod) I recommend this for everyone. And Josh McDowell said The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry will literally impact both the young and old. The movie is free, and no childcare is being provided for this family friendly movie.

Senior Adult Ministry

This is the final week of the A.S.K. emphasis. We have seen God move in our hearts and lives mightily over the last seven weeks. Today, we celebrate all that God has done and give back to Him in order to retire our churchs building debt and help our resources continue to go beyond the buildings. There is a brochure in the pocket of the chair in front of you that will explain more about this. While this is the last week of the A.S.K. emphasis, dont look at this as an ending, but a launching point to climb higher still and seek the Lord more fervently. Final Scripture Readings (Sunday-Tuesday): 2 Timothy 2 - 2 Timothy 4 (a chapter a day)
