The choice of digital programmes available is enormous, extremely diverse, and unlimited.
Apart from the comprehensive choice of digital television programmes you can receive via satellite, cable or terrestrial broadcast, you can also enjoy any number of radio programmes and data services**.

Obtaining satellite reception is very simple. A dish antenna as small as 33 cm diameter will provide you with free entertainment from the sky. For digital terrestrial reception, all you need is a basic room or roof-mounted antenna (your TechniSat specialist retailer will be happy to provide you with further information). In the case of cable reception, simply connect your cable equipment to your cable socket.

Extreme convenience
using the DVB Viewer
To assist you in obtaining the full enjoyment of digitally broadcast TV and radio programmes, the installation CD-ROM includes a special DVB Viewer software programme. This DVB Viewer is a TV and radio software programme specially developed for the TechniSat PC products, that enables the PC to turn into a multi-media TV and radio receiver, and to bring in the enormous choice of digital broadcast programmes. A high-quality TV image is displayed in a window, the size of which can be freely selected by the user. Whether it is being used for entertainment while working on the PC, or whether the PC monitor is being used as an additional TV screen, the DVB Viewer is a fully functional digital receiver. All important functions, such as full screen mode, video text, switching programmes, adjusting the volume or operating the PVR video recorder function - all these can be retreived instantly by means of direct selection keys. All other settings can be retreived and selected via the individual menu points. The software provides a channel list, showing all programmes conveniently sor-

ted by genre/type, making it particularly easy to find a particular programme. In addition, a Favourites list, containing up to 10 programmes, may be configured, providing even faster and easier access to these selected programmes. All TV and radio programmes can be edited individually via the channel list, and there are options for adding new programmes, editing existing programmes or deleting programmes. Program information service, Tele text & DVB Subtiteling

The TechniSat DVB-PC TV Stars are equipped with DVB-Viewer software, featuring a fully operational video text function as well as an program information service. The video text is displayed in a separate window, parallel to the current TV image, and can be controlled via the computer keyboard or via a special mouse-operated function bar, too. As the video text pages are loaded into the PC memory, you can enjoy instant access to any desired text page.

This refers to programme information, such as the title and duration of the current programme, starting time and title of the next programme, the following programme after that, etc The DVB viewer software displays the program information service in an easyto-read window, in which you can select any desired television programme, and the entire programme of that channel for that day will be displayed alongside. However, the program information service serves not only to provide information on the TV programme, but can also be used as a programming assistant for the PVR video recorder function. Simply press a button to mark the desired programme, and all the details will be sent to the video recorder software. This feature gives you an extremely easy timer programming function, avoiding all the bothersome and confusing entry of starting and ending times, programme numbers, etc

Many programme providers already make use of many of the diverse features provided by digital television. Thus, additional service information (abbreviated as SI) is broadcast in addition to the actual TV programme, which consists of picture, sound and video text.

recorded contents can be archived and reproduced as often as you like, always at the same high level of quality. Playing back a recorded programme is childs play when using the DVB-Viewer software. No other or additional software is required for this. As a result of the continually decreasing prices for hard drives, the PVR function of the DVBViewer software provides the optimal opportunity for starting your own movie archive. Bearing in mind that a hard drive with a capacity of 80 GB (assuming an average requirement of 1,5 GB per movie) can be used to archive up to 50 normal-length movies. If you then also employ additional software tools, e.g. to cut out advertising breaks, you can even increase the number of movies to be stored! The PVR function provides three different recording modes (instant recording key, timer recording and the easy and convenient timer recording using the program information service function), ensuring that you need never again miss a movie.
