Life in the twenty-first century
I wake up in the morning and the first thing I do is to sit in front of my P.C. and visit a web site. And look I am in Greece and I'm chatting with my Greek friend about terrible weather in North Europe. After a while I am in Germany and I discuss Paris Fashion week with my German friend. All of this in less than ten minutes. If I go outside the simple touch on my cell phone and I am connected to the world again. Believe or not this is not an insert from the science-fiction movie or a modern fairy tale. No my friend this is a touch of reality, and you can fell it even here in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The things I've mentioned above bring me to the simple conclusion: Life in the twenty-first century is more than good. I am the truly child of the twenty-first century. I even could sing what a wonderful world. No matter what people say this is a wonderful world. And if you think well you simply have no choice but to agree with me. If you ask for the proof just look around yourself. It is every where. How many lives were saved because we could get on time, how many disasters we were predicted and prevented thanks to the calculations on the net? Thanks to the links now days we can use our cell phones as some sort of mini computers. So there is no matter where we go or where we are we can get information any time we want to. This is something that makes us such powerful beings. In my opinion information technology especially its development in the last decade is the key of our success. I am fully aware of the fact that some people disapprove this way of thinking. Their strongest arguments are the claims how IT revolution contributes to our dehumanization, how we live surrogate life thanks to the virtual reality. Thinking and acting in short terms you could even agree with them. But they often forget how we developed medical science how we found a cure for many diseases thanks to IT revolution. Imagine how many people without limbs backed their smiles because robotics and bionics help them to get 'new ones'. I'm asking you now' what can be more humane than that'. Try to convince them in the story about surrogate life. This does not mean that I turn a blind eye to the growing problems like global warming, pollution, natural disasters, or constant wars in some parts of the world. However deeply in my heart I sincerely believe that IT revolution will help us to get through the problems and rise above the situation. I don't say this just because I'm an optimist. In addition I will be impertinent to claim how advanced technology especially in the field of genetics will preserve not only our species but the others as well. According to some surveys life could be rapidly change into better. I am believer too. Also I am pretty sure how we finally will be able to talk about golden age in the future. According to the survey I've mentioned above the robots will be humanoids in appearance. They will replace man in the factories, mines, in the fields. People will more quality time for themselves and they will be relaxed and more sociable. This will be a predisposition towards creating new ideal society. There will be no wars. The world's population will increase to eleven billion in 2050 countries will have to cooperate to the final reunion. So we all will be citizens of the one unique country in the world called Utopia. Our ID's will be replaced by smart cards which will work by voice recognition. Virtual reality will be even more than.
Not I do agree with this survey but I already see this world pulsing in front of my eyes. All in all if you ask me dawn of new reborn humanity is coming. Despite of all those voices against IT revolution, I believe in the creation of better human being in any sense of that word. I definitely refuse the role of vicious witch prophet or follower of the story about Mayan calendar. I see nothing but bright future and what's more I've got a proof. Helped by virtual reality we will create a society based on the principles of humanism and equality. We will be humane more than ever. What a pity I cannot live hundred years. On the other hand medical science will be able to provide us to live longer. One day I will see that world and I will be honored member of the society.
