The Setting the PG/PC Interface configuration program allows you to assign parameters for PROFIBUS communication connections.
The access point is the name of a communication connection. Applications and libraries can access the interface via the access point. You can create new access points by selecting the entry Add/Delete in the "Access Point of the Application" list box. If you want to work with SOFTNET-DP : Use the default access points CP_L2_X: where X = 1 to 4. The number X must be specified as the CP number in the structure element reference.board for the dpn_init() call. If you want to work with SOFTNET DP Slave: Whenever possible, use the DPSONLINE access point. You can, however, use other access points. The name of the access point must be entered for DPS_open(). If you want to work with FDL: You can use any access points. These must be entered as parameters for the SCP_OPEN() call. If you want to work with SAPI S7: You can use any name you require for the access point. The access point must be specified in the program as the parameter "cp_name" of the "s7_init" command. If you want to work with STEP 7: You must, for example, use the access point "S7ONLINE" to communicate with S7 programmable controllers. You can also use this name in your programs.
Interface parameter sets contain all the properties of a network access point. These include the underlying hardware, the station parameters and the bus parameters. Link an access point to an interface parameter set following the steps outlined in Section 6.3:

The CP 5X11 (PROFIBUS - DP Master) parameter set is required for the DP master mode. In the DP Master dialog, you can specify whether the DP master is the only active station in the PROFIBUS network. If you want the PC with SOFTNET DP to be the only master in the network or to be the first master to become active, the "Programming device / PC is the only master on the bus" checkbox must be activated.
In this dialog, you can also specify a DP database for this device parameter set. For more information about creating the database, refer to Chapter 7.
+
For the DP mode, it is essential to specify a DP database. Specifying the DP Bus Parameters It is not possible to set the bus parameters for DP using the Setting the PG/PC Interface configuration program. These are specified when you configure with COM PROFIBUS and they are saved in the database.

With the standard parameter set CP 5X11 (PROFIBUS), access to PROFIBUS networks for SAPI S7 or for FDL applications and the applications based on other protocols (for example STEP 7) is possible. In the Properties dialog, you can modify the PROFIBUS bus parameters. The local parameters are set under Station Parameters: The local PROFIBUS address and a layer 4 timeout (no significance). With the Programming device / PC is the only master on the bus checkbox, you can decide how the interface is entered into the PROFIBUS ring. If this checkbox is deactivated, the interface can be included in a ring that is already active while the interface is turned on. If, however the interface is intended as the only master in the PROFIBUS network, this checkbox must be activated. The Network Parameters are valid for the entire PROFIBUS network and must match up on all nodes. The bus profiles contain predefined data records containing bus parameters. Select the DP bus profile if you are only operating S7 components in your PROFIBUS network. If you are also using S5 components or devices from other vendors on the bus, you must use the Universal profile. Select the Standard bus profile for the multimaster mode with fast bus nodes. If you set the User-Defined bus profile, you can set the bus parameters after clicking the Bus Parameters... button. If a different bus profile is set, the bus parameters can only be monitored.

9 Troubleshooting
9.1 Under Windows 98
The controller type does not match the Card & Socket services with which Windows 98 operates.
Resource Problem?
You can reassign the resources in the Control Panel (by double-clicking the entry PCMCIA Card Siemens CP 5511). Check whether there is a resource conflict in the Device Manager.
Check whether the access point and the interface parameter set match.
Configuration Problem?
Check whether the database LDB exists and whether it is entered in the PG/PC interface. Check the node addresses and the bus parameters settings.
SystemSoft CardWizard
Check whether your controller type or platform is supported by the Cardware version. The information about the controller type is often on the controller itself. If you cannot find the information there, contact the manufacturer of your computer. As an alternative to the Award Cardware, you can also use the CardWizard from SystemSoft if Cardware cannot be run on your computer. For more detailed infomation refer to the readme.txt file of your product and in the instructions for operating the SystemSoft CardWizard (PDF file on your CD).

C79000-Z8974-C35-03
If you want to install or uninstall a further interface on your PC after the CP 5511, you should inform the resource manager of the card services of the released (after uninstalling) or newly occupied resources (after installing). To home in on the problem, use the diagnostic tool (in the PG/PC interface) (see Chapter 8). If errors occur, first check whether the memory areas and interrupts used by the Cardware are really free and not being used by other components. Since Windows NT 4.0 does not fully support Plug & Play, the user is also responsible for handling resources. During installation, the Cardware normally detects free memory areas, there is however no 100% guarantee.
Resource Problem?
If you install the Cardware from your SIMATIC NET product CD, skip this point. If you have purchased the Award Cardware separately, remember the following points. In this case, a so-called card enabler was installed. This must be deactivated to operate the CP 5511.
There are two ways of deactivating the card enabler: First method: Remove PCCARD.EXE from the Autostart menu of your PC \WINNT\PROFILES\AllUsers\Startmenu\Programs\Autostart\PCCard When you boot the PC, the card is no longer displayed. Cardware is however activated. The CP 5511 can be operated.
Second method: Change the start type of PCENABLE.SYS to manual . Click My Computer Click Control Panel Click Devices Click pcenable (select) Click Startup Type Click Manual Reboot your PC
When you boot the PC, a PCMCIA card is displayed with the comment unable to get the card name. Cardware is however activated. The CP 5511 can be operated.

When you install the Cardware, the installation program checks which resources (interrupts, memory) are already being used by other components. These are entered in the registry and are not available to the Cardware. This method is intended to avoid device conflicts. Depending on the system, resources are occasionally claimed by two components. In this case, the registry must be changed manually. If you want to prevent certain interrupts or memory ranges being used by PC cards, note the following points.
1.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PCCS\Resources 2.
Under resources, you can make further entries. Examples: XIRQ,6,E prevents the use of Interrupt 6. XMEM,0xA0000,0x30000,E prevents the use of memory range 0xA0000 to 0xCFFFF. Update the total number of entries.
