October 2012
Fall Is in Swing
As the weather begins to change we start thinking of Fall. Summer is past with its vacations and outings, people are back at school, and probably any habit regarding church attendance is in full swing. Are you making it a priority to gather with other believers to love one another? To learn more about Gods expectations and to have someone hold you accountable? Are you not only taking in, but giving out by serving others?
Galatians 5:13For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But dont use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself.* 15But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

We all face a choice at our jobs, in our families, and in the local church: we can learn to love and put up with each other, or we can chew people up and spit them out. The Bible makes it clear that we could choose to just do what comes natural, or in Christ we can choose to do what is supernatural. As your pastor I encourage you to do the hard thing, to engage with imperfect people (by the way that

includes all of us), and to love. It is as we patiently accept other people in process that we then experience grace for our own issues and walk with Jesus. Take a hand and help someone along. You might discover that sometimes they are pulling you closer to Jesus as well.

Making Our Faith Public

How cool that 4 people recently made their Christian faith public by being baptized. It is so encouraging to know that God is at work in our hearts here at FCC, in both new and older believers. Obviously the big focus is on the ones being baptized, but this is also one of the premier ceremonies for any church. Thank you to those of you who took time out to worship our Lord alongside the banks of the St. Joe river and witness the outward expression of Gods inward work. We are a part of the Body of Christ and it is important to be there for one another, to make others a priority. Another way we made our faith public was inviting the community to join with us for our cook-out. What a great opportunity this is for both those who attend FCC and visitors to get to socialize around food. Again, there are always lots of other things a person could do, so we thank you for making Christian fellowship a priority. Finally we acknowledge a few of our cross-cultural working friends who are making our faith public in other countries. Over the past several months we have heard from missionaries working in a variety of

settings including two countries in the Southeast Asia where it can be dangerous to be a Jesus follower. We also heard from FCCs own missionary family - the Conrads - and their work in Cancun, Mexico. They were followed a couple weeks later by an update from Gabo & Emily who work in one of the worlds largest metropolises Mexico City, Mexico. As we partner with these representatives, we have a small part in sharing the Good News all over the world.

Victory Over Shadows 2012

As we come into a time of year where society focuses on the occult and horror, we will once again challenge ourselves with the Bibles message to live different. This time we will have three areas of learning: (1) We will pray throughout the month for people to be freed from any type of bondage they may be experiencing. (2) In a couple of our groups we will be watching and discussing Neil Andersons Bondage Breaker material. And (3) we will hear a testimony from a young woman who grew up in a country where idols and demonic spirits are a fact of life.
