HINT: Centering bolts are used to mount the hood hinge and hood lock. The hood and hood lock cannot be adjusted with the centering bolts on. Substitute standard bolts (with washers) for the centering bolts when making adjustments. For bolts without torque specifications, check the standard bolt chart (see page SS-2). 1. INSPECT HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY (a) Check that the clearance measurements are within the standard ranges.

ADJUST HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY (a) Adjust the hood position. (1) Loosen the 4 hinge bolts on the hood side. (2) Move the hood and adjust the clearance between the hood and front fender. Make sure that the clearance is within the standard range. Standard(A): 4.0 to 7.0 mm (0.157 to 0.276 in.) (3) Tighten the hood side hinge bolts after the adjustment. Torque: 13 N*m (133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

(b) Adjust the cushion rubber so that the heights of the hood and the fender are equal. (1) Raise or lower the hood front end by turning the cushion rubber. Make sure that the clearance is within the standard range. HINT: Raise or lower the cushion rubber by turning it.

(c) Adjust the hood lock. (1) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the hood lock release lever protector.

(3) Adjust the hood lock position so that the striker can enter it smoothly.

REMOVAL
HINT: Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides. The procedure described below is for the LH side. 1. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT (a) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, remove the 2 stop rings and the hood support. NOTICE: Do not touch the rod of the hood support with gloves, to avoid fibers from adhering. When foreign matter adheres to the rod, it prevents the rod from moving smoothly and reduces its holding power. HINT: Support the hood by hand while removing the hood support. INSTALL HOOD SUPPORT (a) Install the 2 stop rings onto the hood support. (b) Install the hood support.

HINT: Before adjusting the door position on vehicles equipped with side airbags and curtain shield airbags, be sure to disconnect the battery. After the adjustment, inspect the SRS warning light, the side airbag system and the curtain shield airbag system for normal operation. Then initialize both airbag systems. ADJUST FRONT DOOR (a) Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. CAUTION: The work must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to OFF and the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If the work is started within 90 seconds of disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and the ignition switch being turned to OFF, the SRS may deploy). (b) Apply strips of protective tape to the door panel and fender panel, as shown in the illustration.
