Team Formation:
• 4th and 5th-year students are allowed to combine to form a team.
• Each batch must nominate a representative who will coordinate and represent their chess
teams.
• Teams are requested to fill out the Google Form (link to be shared) as soon as possible.
Event Schedule:
• The event will take place on the following dates:
• Ensure your teams are available and prepared for the above dates.
• The Google Form must be filled accordingly, reflecting the correct board order.
- The board order declared before the tournament starts must remain consistent
throughout.
- Substitutions are allowed for specific boards, but teams must inform the organizers
before the round.
Tournament Format:
• If 8 teams participate, there will be 2 groups of 4 teams.
- B teams will be paired so that no teams from the same batch are in the same group.
- The top 2 teams from each group will proceed to the next round.
• If there are 5 or fewer teams, the tournament will follow a round-robin format.
• Winners will advance to the finals, and losers will compete in the bronze medal match.
Tiebreak Rules:
In the event of a tie during the round-robin stage for top 2 selection:
1. Head-to-head encounter (if drawn, the team with 3 black boards wins the tiebreak).
2. Sum of points over all individual boards across all rounds of the tied teams.
3. Sum of points over all individual boards across all rounds of the opponents of the tied
teams.
• If still tied, a 1v1 Armageddon match (5 minutes for White, 4 minutes for Black) will be
played, and the choice of color will be determined by a coin toss. Black has draw odds.
The decision of the organizers/convenors will be final and binding on all matters,
including but not limited to the rules, tiebreaks, and any disputes that may arise during
the event. By participating, all players and teams agree to abide by the rules and
decisions made by the organizing committee. No appeals will be entertained, and the
organizers reserve the right to modify or interpret the rules as necessary to ensure a
fair and smooth tournament.
