PROJECT WORK
CLASS IX (2024-25)
Topic: Disaster Management
As per the requirement of CBSE syllabus every student has to compulsorily
undertake one project on Disaster Management (Pertaining to class IX curriculum of Disaster
Management). It is a part of Internal Assessment.

OBJECTIVES: The overall objective of the project work is to help students gain an insight and
pragmatic understanding of the theme and see all the Social Science disciplines from an
interdisciplinary perspective. It should also help in enhancing the Life Skills of the students.
Students are expected to apply the Social Science concepts that they have learnt over the years
in order to prepare the project report. If required, students may go out for collecting data and
use different primary and secondary resources to prepare the project. If possible, various forms
of art may be integrated in the project work.
1) The project carried out by the students should subsequently be shared among themselves
through interactive sessions such as exhibitions, panel discussions, etc.
2) All documents pertaining to assessment under this activity should be meticulously
maintained by the schools.
3) A Summary Report should be prepared highlighting:
● Objectives realized through individual work and group interactions.
● Calendar of activities.
● Innovative ideas generated in the process
● List of questions asked in viva voce.
4) It is to be noted here by all the teachers and students that the projects and models prepared
should be made from eco-friendly products without incurring too much expenditure.
5) The Project Report can be handwritten or digital by the students themselves and comprise of
not less than 10 and more than 15 foolscap pages.
6) The Project Work needs to enhance cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills of the
learners. It will include self-assessment and peer assessment, and progress of the child in
project-based and inquiry-based learning, art integrated activities, experiments, models,
quizzes, role plays, group work, portfolios, etc., along with teacher assessment. (NEP-2020)

7) The Project work can culminate in the form of Power Point
Presentation/Exhibition/Skit/albums/files/song and dance or culture show /story
telling/debate/panel discussion, paper presentation and whichever is suitable to Visually
Impaired Candidates.
8) Records pertaining to projects (internal assessment) of the students will be maintained for a
period of three months from the date of declaration of result for verification at the discretion of
Board. Sub judice cases, if any or those involving RTI / Grievances may however be retained
beyond three months.
The distribution of marks over different aspects relating to Project Work is as follows:

The format of the project should include a
 Cover page with the topic and student name & section,
 An index page,
 Acknowledgement page and
 The following pages should include information on the above-mentioned topics (Any one
topics). Apart from information, students should use images, diagrams or data in the
project.
 The last two pages to be used for self-reflection and bibliography.

Disaster Management for Class IX - Published by CBSE.

(“RARE” which means Reasoned, Articulate and Reflective Exposition.)

Choose any one topic for your research from the following: -
The UAE continues to grow in the technology space. Private and public sector
players are seeking to modernize by adopting state-of-the-art solutions and catch the
broader global wave of innovation, data utilization, digital transformation, and
technological advancement. The UAE’s desire to diversify and build a knowledge-based
economy is creating new opportunities, and the government has set aside large parts of the
budget to achieve ambitious visions and plans. Technology players continue to see the
potential to grow their business in the UAE.
1) UAE Economic Overview and its vision in technology sector to bring progression in
trade and economic development.
2) Initiatives taken by UAE government to achieve sustainable economic growth in
multiple sectors.

Identification of the Topic and skill
Identify the topic (from the given list) on which you would like to research upon. For that you
must identify the audience you are targeting.
Skills- Letter writing, Essay, Speech, Debate, Article.

Ask yourself:
1) What is that you would like to prove or disapprove? Based on that develop the “Rare”.
2) Who are you writing for? Based on that select your material.

Data Collection
If required, data can be collected through various sources. Information can be collected by
interviewing, researching, print sources like books, magazines, encyclopedias etc. etc.
Selecting the key points.
After gathering the information needed for your project, read through them with the theme in
your mind and select the relevant points. The following questions can help you in selecting the
key points.
 Does the information relate directly to the topic
 Is the information current and error free?
 Is the source convincing enough for you to justify?
Note Making
Make notes carefully and systematically as the notes you make are a record of your research. It
helps you to remain focused on the topic. Always remember to sort and record the details
according to the structure that you have in your mind for your “RARE”
Important Note:
Academic research requires you to credit your sources and share with the readers the exact origin
of your information. So before taking down notes you must record the following information
about each source.
 Author or editor of the article or book
 Title of the article or book
 Name of the magazine or journal
 Place of publication of the book
 Publisher of the book
 Publication date
 Exact page or pages where the information is found.
For electronic source:
 Author name if available
 Title of the article or work
 Date and location of original publication.
 Date of electronic publication as well as date when the document was accessed
 Page, paragraphs or section number if available

Create a captivating and impressive title. Develop a plan from the title called the “Rare
Statement “The statement contains the main point, ideas or opinions the writer wants to convey
on the topic.
An effective “Rare” has four characteristics
 It should state the subject of the “Rare” clearly
 It includes a controlling idea about the subject.
 It should have specific language rather than vague words.
 It must establish a tone that is appropriate to the subject and the intended audience.

Word limit- Research paper -1 300 to 320 words.

Write a page titled self-reflection. This page must contain answers to the following questions, in
the form of a paragraph.
 What made me choose this topic for research?
 What made me think in this way?
 What have I learned from this research work?
 How do I feel about this piece of work? What parts of it do I particularly like? Dislike?
Why? What did/do you enjoy about this piece or work?
 What does this piece reveal about me as a learner?
 What is the most important thing that I particularly want people to notice when they look
at my work?

 What resources did I use while working on this piece? Which all were especially helpful
and why? Which one would I use again?
