Pattern repeat for sock leg, to be worked 3 times over 66 stitches of leg
Stitch number varies from rnd to rnd; check count on rnds 1, 6, 7, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 24.
Chart shows one horizontal pattern repeat of 22 (beginning) stitches and two vertical repeats of 12 rows each. Stitch count
varies from row to row, and returns to original number on rows 1, 6, 7, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 24.
For sock leg, begin chart after working the setup and cuff instructions on page 2. Rounds begin at the start of needle 1.
Work chart from right to left three times on every round.
Work the 24 chart rows three times for sock leg; if changing leg length, end on R11 or R23.
When leg is complete, proceed to instructions for the heel flap on page 2 of pattern.

Turn heel:
R1 (WS): sl1, p17, p2 tog, p1, turn
R2 (RS): sl1, k6, ssk, k1, turn.
R3: sl1, purl to within one stitch of the turn for the last row (there will be a gap there), p2tog, p1, turn
R4: sl1, knit to within one stitch of the turn for the last row (there will be a gap there), ssk, k1, turn
Repeat R3 and R4 until all the heel stitches have been worked, ending the last purl row with p1, and the last knit
row with k1. There will be 19 remaining heel sts.
Divide the heel sts onto 2 needles with 10 sts on the one with yarn attached (needle 1) and 9 sts on the other
(spare needle). Place the 37 stitches which have been held aside on needles 2 and 3 onto one needle (needle 2).
With right side facing, and needle 1 in hand, pick up 17 sts along the heel flap, through the large slipped stitches
at the edge.
Next, with a spare DPN, work across needle 2 in row 1 of the foot pattern, which is a continuation of the pattern
established for the leg (chart and instructions for Acorn Lace foot panel appear on page 5).
Using the empty DPN (now needle 3), pick up 17 sts along the other heel flap and knit across the remaining
9 heel sts from the spare needle. This completes the pickup round.
From here, sock rounds begin and end at the center of the heel.
Work a series of decreases for the heel gusset as follows:
R1: on needle 1, knit to last st, then p1, work next row of Acorn Lace across needle 2, on needle 3, p1, knit to
end.
R2: knit to the last 3 sts of needle 1, k2tog, p1; work next row of Acorn Lace across needle 2; on needle 3, p1, ssk,
knit to end of round.
Repeat these two rnds until there are 17 sts remaining on needle 1 and 16 sts on needle 3.
Work straight as follows to continue foot:
Next rnd: on needle 1, knit to last st, then p1, work next row of Acorn Lace across needle 2, on needle 3, p1, knit
to end.
Repeat this rnd until foot measures the length to start of toe, minus approximately .5”; end on the nearest row
6, 7, 18, or 19.
Next rnd: knit across needle 1, knit across needle 2 and increase 2 sts evenly spaced, knit across needle 3
[66 total sts].
Work 6 rnds in knit, or enough to achieve the total foot length to toe.
Shape Toe
Work toe decreases as follows:
R1: knit to the last 3 sts of needle one, k2tog, k1; on needle two, k1, ssk, knit across to the last 3 sts, k2tog, k1;
then, on needle three, k1, ssk, knit to end of round.
R2: knit around
Repeat these two rnds until there are 26 total stitches remaining; 7 sts on needle 1, 6 on needle 3 and 13 sts on
needle 2. Knit across needle one and place those stitches on needle three so that you now have two needles that
lie parallel. Cut yarn to a 10” length, and thread onto a tapestry needle. Close toe using kichener stitch or desired
grafting method. Secure the last stitch and pull grafting yarn to back of work; weave in all ends on WS of fabric.
