2 Data Conversion in STATPAK-Win

The following hints must absolutely be respected.

2.1 Backup before Conversion

If you use STATPAK-Win v1.5.A11 or a newer version and have used before a
version that is older than v1.5.A11, all statistic files are converted. If the
statistical data that you have created e.g. with STATPAK-Win v1.4, once have
been converted in STATPAK-Win v1.5.R, these data cannot be read any more
on your computer with STATPAK-Win v1.4. You get an error message.
We recommend making a backup copy of the parts in COSMOS before using
the new version of STATPAK-Win v1.5.R. The program displays a message
before you start with the conversion of the data, which you must confirm.

If there exist network part directories, it is obligatory necessary that the new
STATPAK-Win version will be installed on each computer having access to
these network part directories.
You can convert all statistic files of a part directory if you call for example
the "Error Report" function in STATPAK-Win.

2.2 Install complete Update

This new STATPAK-Win version is not compatible with older versions of the
PartManager. It is not sufficient to simply copy e.g. the new STATSWin.exe in an
older COSMOS version, which is only equipped with a 1.4. version. You should
always make the complete update you got from CTL.
Since version 1.5.R, you only can use the actual cd rom.

3.1 Installation of the New Network
Since version 1.5.R, you can again start the network installation from the cd rom.

3.2 Update of Network

You only need a new file “SNETCONF.INI”. You find the packed file under the
name “NU15B02.RAR” on our homepage "www.Mitutoyo-ctl.de".
Furthermore, you will find this packed file (self-extracting) on the cd rom under
"Network \ NU15R.EXE” (since v1.5.R Edition3).
Extract the files in the actual network directory.

3.3 Measurement Stations with Network Operation

For measurement stations working with a fixed directory (part copies), this
directory can either be our standard path “[NETWORKPATH]\STN_\…”or each
other directory, e.g. on the local hard disk.
Normally, the PartManager automatically changes to our standard path. With
another directory you have selected, you must deselect the automatic directory
change button, this means in the "..\INI\COMMON.INI" file with the new variable:

[Network]

ChgPath=

...

Signification

• ChgPath=0 : The PartManager does not automatically change

to our standard path.
If you set “ChgPath=0”, you must change to the selected
directory before changing the program into "Measurement
Station Mode".

• ChgPath=1 : The PartManager automatically changes into the

standard path.
These settings can be realized in the PartManager "Network" dialogue (menu
bar / Settings / Default for Programs / General / "Network".
After the presetting, the PartManager automatically changes into the standard
path.

3.4 Locally Working Measurement Stations

Since STATPAK-Win version 1.5B1, you can locally operate your measurement
stations, i.e. without network access. This is only possible when you have part
copies. For this, there must be executed some important steps:

Copy all necessary parts of the original directory to the local one.

Restart the network installation, and enter a local path.

Install the measurement station in the "Network" dialogue (see above)

in such a way, that PartManager does not automatically change to the
standard path.

Start the measurement as often as necessary.

To bring together the measured data with the "STATPAK-Win

Network Manager Function", you must

• copy all data “*.NTW” and "*.SRQ"

• from the local directory …\STNTRANS

• into the original directory …\STNTRANS.

Here, it is the directory that you have selected at your first
network installation.

To finish, start the network manager function.

To the whole complex, also see in the online help the topic "The STATPAK-Win
Network".
