Information:
Minimum Requirements
Before an upgrade to version 22.0 software is attempted, it is important to check each
individual system has the relevant absolute minimum specification below:
Operating systems:
Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP Systems are not supported
Viking
You cannot upgrade from Viking 20.1 or earlier
For version 22.0 Win 7 systems -current production minimum system specifications are:
PC tower / PC laptop
Processor: Intel i5 3.1GHz / Intel i5 2.5GHz
RAM: 4GB / 4GB
Operating System: Windows 7 Prof. (32 bit)
Microsoft Office 2013 (incl. Word 2013)
Notes:
1. It is not recommended to upgrade the operating system, because of the intricacies during an
operating system upgrade.
Any attempt to install Version 22.0 on a System that does not comply with
the above will not be supported by Natus.
Acquisition Software License.
An updated Software license may be required, depending on your existing system. When you
start the application you will be informed if this is the case - contact the customer support team
with your previous license details to obtain an updated license. If you cannot contact customer
support, there will be an “Enable Demo” button on the license dialog and this will allow you to
use the software for 60 days by which date you should have obtained an updated license.

Standalone System Upgrade procedure
1. Close down all running Windows applications, including the Synergy/Viking Application. If
installing on an USB based System disconnect the USB lead.
3. Natus recommends making copies of the Patient data folders. Copy locally if local
disk storage space permits or preferably use external storage media if available.
Using Windows Explorer, locate the three Patient data folders,
Config folder,
Patients folder,
Reports folder
in the path C:\Emg or C\Synergy.
Place copies of these three folders in another location on the hard drive, or external media
similar to step 2 above.
8. Click “OK” to restart the system, and allow the unit to reboot normally.

In the Synergy/Viking application, select Help, About, in the list of items displayed; check
that the following versions are reported:

Optional:
In the folder named ‘Resources’ on the CD-ROM, there are sample LivePlay files, reports,
sample patients, and reference material, which you are welcome to copy across and use. This
file will normally be stored in the ‘My Documents’ folder on new production systems.
2. On each client, close down all running Windows applications, including the EMG Application.
If installing on an USB based System disconnect the USB lead.
3. On the server, ensure a backup of the databases and data has been performed.
4. On the server, browse to the “Server Setup” folder of the EMG application DVD and double-
click on the Setup.exe program.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions. , ensuring you select the option to keep existing data.
7. Click “OK” to restart the system, and allow the unit to reboot normally.
8. To check that the installation has been performed correctly follow the procedure below:
9. Run the Database Manager application and select “Yes” to upgrading the databases if
prompted.
10. Select Help, About option, and check the version is 22.0.
11. On each client machine, perform an installation of the acquisition or reader software as
described in the standalone section.
12. Run each client application and upgrade the local databases if prompted to do so.
13. Ensure each client connects successfully to the server – when the application is started an
error will be displayed if there is a problem.
