Arania is a 10-inch square made with Stylecraft Special

Double Knit and a 4mm hook.
Approx 127 meters/ 139 yards of yarn needed (43
grams).
You can follow a 2, 3, 5 or 7 colour scheme, these are
listed in the separate pdf, as well as the yarn amounts
used per round.
The colours used for the photo tutorial are White and
Pistachio. Directions for one colour can be found on
page 7.

1. Start with a magic ring and make 8 sc into the ring.

Join to first sc with a sl-st. Do not fasten off.
Stitch count: 8 sc

2. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in the same st.

(ch 4, 3 dc in next st) 7 times, ch 4 and join to top of ch-3.
Fasten off and secure ends.
Stitch count: 24 dc, 8 ch-4 sps

3. Join with a standing bpdc around last st before any ch-4 sp [P1], bpdc around
next 23 sts. [P2]
Join to standing bpdc with a sl-st. Do not fasten off.
Stitch count: 24 bpdc

4. Ch 3 (counts as dc).
(Dc in ch-4 sp R2, dc in next st, in next st (dc, ch 4, dc), dc in next st) 8 times.
[P1,2] Omit last dc.
Join to top of ch-3. Fasten off and secure ends.
Stitch count: 40 dc, 8 ch-4 sps

5. Join with a standing bpdc around last st before any ch-4 sp [P1], bpdc around
next 39 sts. [P2]
Join to standing bpdc with a sl-st. Do not fasten off.

6. Ch 3 (counts as dc).

Join to top of ch-3. Fasten off and secure ends.

7. Join with a standing bpdc around last st before any ch-4 sp [P1], bpdc around

Join to standing bpdc with a sl-st. Do not fasten off.
Stitch count: 80 bpdc, 16 ch-1 sps

Directions for 1 colour.

Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round so as to avoid joining to the
ch-1 at the start of the round.
