All electrical works shall be carried out in accordance with the latest version of
SHELL DEPs and SHELL standard drawings. Project specific requirements
over and above SHELL DEPs and SHELL Standard drawings are furnished in
the following section.
17.1 Project Specific Requirements For Electrical Design over SHELL DEPs
General

1. Additional/ specific requirements over the SHELL DEP's meant for

electrical discipline are furnished in this section. Applicable DEP clause
is indicated for quick reference.

2. All electrical equipment installed in airconditioned indoor environment

shall be designed for an ambient temperature of 45 deg.C. All equipment
located outdoor under shade shall be designed for an ambient
temperature of 52 deg.C. For other environmental conditions, reference
shall be made to the project specifications and Environmental Data in
the Contract.

3. All electrical equipment shall be designed for 30 years of life as

stipulated in project specifications/Appendix A.

4. All indoor equipment shall be suitable for IP41 (minimum) degree of

protection unless otherwise stated. All outdoor equipment shall be
suitable for IP55 unless otherwise higher degree of protection
specified/required.

5. All electrical equipment shall bear the colour finished to RAL7032

(Classic RAL System).

6. LV systems shall be suitable for 415V/240V, 50Hz, three phase with

neutral, unless otherwise specified.

7. LV switchboard (415 V) shall be secondary selective type.

8. Where electrical power is received from Kahramaa, all tie-ins shall

comply with Kahramaa specification requirements.

9. al requirement that the

manufacturer offers only equipment that is within his standard range of
equipment, and that such equipment is not scheduled to be withdrawn
from production within 5 years of it being installed at the QP site. Any
bought-
standard range of products from the third party, but subject to the
approval of QP. The equipment shall not be a proto-type or a new
product-line that has not been sold in reasonable numbers to similar
users as QP. The manufacturer shall include in his tender

2.4 STANDARDISATION OF EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS

1. Equipment of similar nature and incorporating similar or identical components and of
similar or identical construction should be from the same Manufacturer (e.g., power
and convenience outlets, luminaries, junction boxes, RCUs, switches.).

2.5 CERTIFICATES, DECLARATIONS AND TEST REPORTS

1. The Contractor shall obtain the Manufacturer's test reports in accordance with the
equipment DEP specifications, e.g., for generators, HV motors, VSDS, HV and LV
switchgear, UPS equipment, and transformers.
2. Further certificates or declarations relating to the application of equipment for use in
hazardous areas may be required by local authorities:
a. for electrical apparatus in Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas, a certificate of
conformity shall be obtained from the Manufacturer:
i. in addition for EU regions, electrical apparatus with a category indication 1
or 2, a certificate of a Notified Body and a CE Declaration of conformity shall
be obtained from the Manufacturer.
b. for electrical apparatus in Zone 2 areas, which has type of protection 'n', a
declaration of compliance is acceptable instead of a certificate of conformity:
i. in addition for EU regions, electrical apparatus with a category indication 3, a
certificate of an independent authorisation authority and a CE Declaration of
conformity shall be obtained from the Manufacturer.
3. The Contractor shall obtain the Manufacturer's requirements for installation from the
certificate or declaration of conformity and incorporate these in the design and
engineering for installation.

3. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DESIGN

3.1 GENERAL
3.1.1 Design philosophy
1. The design of the electrical facilities shall meet the specific design criteria, philosophy
and/or objective stated in the project definition phase, e.g., in the basis of design
document or project specification, relating to a particular plant or facility.
For instance, it may be defined by plant lifetime, skill of operating and maintenance
personnel, operational flexibility, extension possibilities or noise limitations, etc.
The philosophies to be employed will depend on the size and complexity of the
installation.
2. Refer to Standard Forms DEP 00.00.07.75-Gen and DEP 00.00.07.96-Gen for
guidance on application of Design Class to electrical installations.Electrical installation
design per this DEP meets the requirements of Design Class 3 as specified in DEP
00.00.07.75-Gen. and DEP 00.00.07.96-Gen. (standard form).
If specified by the Principal, a (different) Design Class may be given for the design
of the electrical installation.
3. The conceptual designs and philosophies relating to the electrical system shall be
documented by a system design description, a key line diagram, basic layout drawings
and functional/outline specifications. Refer to Appendix G.
The overall design intent is a suitably robust system, with reduced energy
consumption through the selection and utilisation of efficient electrical equipment.
