DIVISION VII – THERMAL AND MOISTURE PROTECTION
PART 1. GENERAL
I.I. GENERAL CONDITIONS
THE THERMAL AND MOISTURE PROTECTION APPLICATOR SHALL APLLY ALL
APPLICATIONS STRICTLY AS PER MANUFACTURER’S SPECIFICATIONS. IT SHALL
STRICTLY BE PERFORMED BY LICENSED OR CERTIFIED APPLICATORS /
WATERPROOFING CONTRACTOR REPRESENTING WATERPROOFING MANUFACTURER OR
INSULATION COPANY SPECIFIED HEREIN. THE PROCURING ENTITY SHALL BE
FURNISHED WITH PERTINENT LITERATURE AND DETAILED DRAWINGS.

I.2 SCOPE OF WORK


THIS ITEM INCLUDES THE MATERIALS USED TO SEAL THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING
AGAINST MOISTURE, THERMAL, AND AIR PENETRATION, PLUS THE ASSOCIATED
INSULATION AND ACCESSORIES. INCLUDED ARE DAMPPROOFING, WATERPROOFING,
INSULATION, AND ROOFING.2. MATERIALS REQUIREMENT
2. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 CMPS – AP SERIES ALUMINUM PANEL SYSTEM
2.1.1 FABRICATE FROM ALUMINUM ALLOY 5052-H32 OR 3003-H14 WITH
MINIMUM NOMINAL THICKNESS OF 2.5MM, 1.9MM OR 1.5MM (0.10”, 0.080”
OR 0.063”) DEPENDING ON MANUFACTURER’S DESIGN.
2.1.2 PANELS TO BE FORMED COMPLETE WITH WELDED OR NON-WELDED
CORNERS. WHERE WELDED, CORNERS TO BE GROUND TO PROVIDE A
SMOOTH FINISH SUITABLE FOR PAINTING.
2.1.3 WHERE REQUIRED, PANELS TO BE STIFFENED TO THE FULL LENGTH
OF THE PANEL ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER’S STANDARD AND
RECOMMENDATION. STIFFENERS TO BE BONDED TO THE BACK FACE OF
THE PANEL WITH DOUBLE SIDED ISOLATING HIGH BOND TAPE PROTECTED
ON BOTH SIDES WITH A CONTINUOUS BEAD OF CAULKING, AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE PANEL MANUFACTURER.
2.1.4 WHERE PAINTED, PANEL FINISH TO BE (KYNAR 500 OR HYLAR 500
POLYVINYLIDENE FLUORIDE –DURANAR OR DURANAR XL BY PPG) OR
(ALIPHATIC URETHANE 2 COAT WET COAT PAINT FINISH) OR (TGIC
EXTERIOR GRADE POLYESTER POWDER COAT FINISH). FINISH AND
COLOUR TO BE SELECTED BY CONSULTANTS PRIOR TO TENDER IF
POSSIBLE.
NOTE: A) COIL COATED PANELS MUST BE NON-WELDED CORNERS.
B) COIL COATED PANELS MUST MEET MINIMUM ORDER
REQUIREMENTS.
C) 1.5MM ALUMINUM (0.063”) IS NOT RECOMMENDED WITH WELDED
CORNERS.
D) NO COLOR CHART IS AVAILABLE FOR ALIPHATIC URETHANE
PAINT FINISH BECAUSE OF THE ALMOST UNLIMITED SPECTRUM OF
AVAILABLE COLOURS.
2.1.5 WHERE ANODIZED, PANELS TO BE EITHER COIL ANODIZED OR BATCH
ANODIZED DEPENDING ON MATERIAL THICKNESS. ALUMINUM TO BE 5005
ANODIZING QUALITY AND CONFORM TO ASTM B209 STANDARDS WITH
H34 TEMPER, TENSION LEVELED IF REQUIRED.
2.2 ACCESSORIES
2.2.1 FACTORY FABRICATE FLASHING AND TRIM AS INDICATED ON SHOP
DRAWINGS OR TO MEET PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. COLOR TO MATCH PANELS
WHERE EXPOSED, (GALVANIZED METAL PERMITTED IN CONCEALED
LOCATIONS).
2.3 SUB-GIRTS AND CLIPS
2.3.1 SUB-GIRTS TO BE A MINIMUM OF 1.22MM (0.048IN) THICK
GALVANIZED STEEL TO ASTM A653M GRADE 230 WITH Z275 COATING.
2.3.2 USE ISOLATION TAPE IN LOCATIONS WHERE DISSIMILAR METALS
COME INTO DIRECT CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER (I.E. ALUMINUM TO
STEEL). APPLY A STRIP OF ISOLATION TAPE BETWEEN COMPONENTS AS
RECOMMENDED BY PANEL MANUFACTURER.
2.4 FASTENING SYSTEMS
2.4.1 FASTENERS TO BE NON-CORROSIVE AND CONCEALED AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE PANEL MANUFACTURER.
2.4.2 FASTENERS BETWEEN ALUMINUM AND ALUMINUM OR ALUMINUM
AND OTHER MATERIALS SHALL BE ALUMINUM OR STAINLESS STEEL OF A
TYPE THAT WILL NOT CAUSE STAINING, CORROSION OR ANY GALVANIC
CORROSION.
2.4.3 FASTENERS SHALL BE OF A SIZE, TYPE AND QUANTITY TO SUIT THE
SPECIFIED PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS.
2.5 INSULATION
2.5.1 WHERE INSULATION IS INSTALLED IN TWO LAYERS, PLACE TOP
LAYER WITH ALL JOINTS STAGGERED FROM BOTTOM LAYER. NO
THROUGH JOINTS ALLOWED.
2.6 AIR/VAPOUR BARRIER
2.6.1 AIR/VAPOUR BARRIER TO BE INSTALLED TO MANUFACTURER’S
RECOMMENDATIONS.
2.7 SEALANTS
2.7.1 CONCEALED: TAPE OR COMPOUND, NON-SKINNING, NON-DRYING,
BUTYL RUBBER.
2.7.2 EXPOSED: ONE PART THERMO-PLASTIC, ELASTOMER BASED SEALANT
WITH COLOUR TO BE SELECTED FROM THE MANUFACTURER’S STANDARD
RANGE.
2.8 FABRICATION
2.8.1 ARCHITECTURAL WALL PANELS TO BE FABRICATED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH REVIEWED SHOP DRAWINGS WITH STRAIGHT LINES, SQUARE
CORNERS, SMOOTH BENDS, FREE OF ALL TWISTS, KINKS, WARPS, DENTS
OR OTHER IMPERFECTIONS WHICH MAY AFFECT APPEARANCE OR
PERFORMANCE.
2.8.2 PANELS SHALL BE REINFORCED AS REQUIRED.
2.8.3 SYSTEM SHALL BE COMPARTMENTALIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
APPROVED SHOP DRAWINGS.
2.8.4 ALL FASTENERS SHALL BE CONCEALED.
2.8.5 TRIM AND FLASHING SHALL BE FACTORY FABRICATED, READY FOR
ASSEMBLY BEFORE SHIPPING TO JOBSITE.

3. EXECUTION
3.1 INSPECTION
3.1.1 INSPECT THE WORK OF OTHERS UPON WHICH WORK OF THIS SECTION
DEPENDS AND NOTIFY THE CONSULTANT IN WRITING OF ANY DEFECTS OR
IRREGULARITIES WHICH WOULD AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OR
APPEARANCE OF THE WORK OF THIS SECTION.
3.2 INSTALLATION
3.2.1 INSTALLATION TO BE CARRIED OUT BY THE MANUFACTURER’S
TRAINED ERECTION CREWS IN THE PERMANENT EMPLOY OF THE
MANUFACTURER OR BY THE MANUFACTURER’S APPROVED ERECTOR.
3.2.2 ERECTORS TO HAVE A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) YEARS EXPERIENCE ON
PROJECTS OF SIMILAR SIZE AND DEGREE OF COMPLEXITY.
3.2.3 ALL PANELS TO BE INSTALLED PLUMB, LEVEL AND TRUE AND IN
PROPER ALIGNMENT AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPROVED SHOP
DRAWINGS.
3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
3.3.1 REMOVE AND REPLACE ALL PANELS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR.
3.3.2 REPAIR ANY PANELS WITH MINOR DAMAGE.
3.3.3 ALL PANEL SURFACES TO BE CLEANED PROMPTLY WITH DRY WIPE
AFTER REMOVAL OF PROTECTIVE COATING AS INSTALLATION
PROGRESSES TO REMOVE ALL STAINS AND MARKS CAUSED DURING
INSTALLATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE
PANEL MANUFACTURER.

END OF SPECIFICATION

DIVISION VIII – DOORS, WINDOWS, AND GLASS


PART 1. GENERAL
(A) WOOD DOORS
A.1.1 SCOPE OF WORK
THIS ITEM SHALL CONSIST OF FURNISHINGS AND INSTALLING ALL WOOD DOORS AND
FRAMES EQUIPPED WITH FIXING ACCESSORIES AND LOCKING DEVICES IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS AND OR SHOP DRAWINGS AND AS HEREIN SPECIFIED.
A.1.2 MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
ALL DOOR CLADDING PLATES OR PANELS SHALL BE FORMED FROM GAUGE 20 COLD
ROLLED, QUALITY STEEL. FRAMES SHALL BE FORMED FROM GAUGE 16 COLD-ROLLED
STEEL. THE MATERIALS USED SHALL CONFORM WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENT OF ASTM-A505
A. TUBULAR DOOR (SWING DOOR)
1. WOOD DOORS SHALL BE CUSTOMBUILT SIZE AND DETAILS AS INDICATED
ON THE PLANS AND OR SHOP DRAWINGS.
2. CLADDING OF DOORS SHALL BE PANEL TYPE. DOORS SHALL BE 44MM
THICK, SIDE HINGED, AS CALLED FOR ON THE PLANS.
3. PANEL DOORS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED FROM TWO OUTER VENEER OR
LAMINATED SHEET NOT LESS THAN GAUGE 20, WITH EDGES WELDED AND
FINISHISHED FLUSH.
4. THE OUTER FACE SHEETS SHALL BE REINFORCED WITH GAUGE 24
VERTICAL CHANNEL OR INTERLOCKING ZEE MEMBERS.
5. INSULATION FILLERS OF CORD FIBERBOARD SHALL BE PLACED FULL
HEIGHT IN SPCES BETWEEN REINFORCING CHANNELS.
6. THE TOP AND BOTTOM FRAME OF DOORS SHALL HAVE CONTINUOUS
WOOD CHANNELS WELDED TO FACE SHEETS.
7. . THE CHANNEL FOR EXTERIOR DOORS SHALL BE INVERTED TYPE, NOT
LESS THAN GAUGE 16, CONSTRUCTED TO FORM A WEATHER SEAL.

A.2. CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS


A. FABRICATION
1. CORNER JOINTS OF FRAMES SHALL BE MITERED AND WELDED CONFORMING
TO THE MANUFACTURER’S STANDARD MANUAL FOR WOOD DOORS.
2. ALL CONTACT EDGES SHALL BE CLOSED TIGHT. WELDS ON EXPOSED
SURFACE SHALL BE GRINDED SMOOTH AND NEAT IN APPEARANCE.
3. JOINTS FOR KNOCK DOWN TYPE FRAME CORNERS SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR
SIMPLE FIELD ASSEMBLY OF HEADER TO JAMB MEMBERS BY CONCEALING
TENON, SPLICE PLATES, OR OTHER IN INTERLOCKING JOINT THAT WILL
PRODUCE SQUARE RIGID CORNERS.
4. JOINTS SHALL BE SECURELY LOCKED IN PLACE DURING ERECTION AND THE
ALIGNMENT OF ADJOINING MEMBERS SHALL BE MAINTAINED.
5. ALL BOLTED CONNECTIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH LOCK UNITS.

B. SHOP FINISH
ALL WOOD DOORS, AND FRAMES SHALL BE CLEANED THROUGHLY BY SANDING
ALL SURFACES WITH 180 GRIT SANDPAPER.

C. INSTALLATION
WOOD DOOR AND FRAMES SHALL BE SET PLUMB AND TRUE TO LINE IN
OPENINGS. THE JOINT BETWEEN FRAME AND MASONRY SHALL BE PROPERLY
CAULKED. CONTACTS BETWEEN DOOR FRAME AND ADJACENT WOOD SHALL BE
SEALED WITH MASTIC.

D. HARDWARE
SIDE BRONZE BUTTS FOR SIDE HUNG DOORS SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR THE
SERVICE REQUIRED AND SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE SUPERVISING
ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER.
A.3. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
1. WOOD DOORS, FRAMES, ACCESSORIES AND HARDWARE SHALL BE MEASURED IN
SQUARE METER PER SET AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS.
2. A SET SHALL CONSIST OF WOOD DOOR, JAMBS, AND HARDWARE EXCEPT DOOR
LOCKSETS.
3. THE AREA IN SQUARE METER FOR EVERY HOLLOW WOOD DOOR INSTALLED
READY FOR SERVICE SHALL BE THE BASIS OF PAYMENT BASE ON THE UNIT BID
OR CONTRACT PRICE.

(B) PVC DOOR (SWING DOOR)


B.1.1. SCOPE OF WORK
THIS ITEM SHALL CONSIST OF FURNISHINGS AND INSTALLING ALL PVC DOORS AND
FRAMES EQUIPPED WITH FIXING ACCESSORIES AND LOCKING DEVICES IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS AND OR SHOP DRAWINGS AND AS HEREIN SPECIFIED.

B.1.2. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS


THE 30 MM THICK FACTORY MADE MOULDED PVC DOOR SHALL BE FABRICATED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH DESIGN REQUIREMENT AND DETAILED AS PER DRAWING, IN
CONFORMITY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SPECIFICATION.

PVC DOOR (SWING DOOR)


1. PVC DOORS SHALL BE CUSTOMBUILT SIZE AND DETAILS AS INDICATED ON
THE PLANS AND OR SHOP DRAWINGS.
2. CLADDING OF DOORS SHALL BE FLUSH OR LOUVER TYPE. DOORS SHALL BE
22MM THICK, SIDE HINGED, AS CALLED FOR ON THE PLANS

B.2 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS


A. FABRICATION
1. 30 MM THICK FACTORY MADE MOULDED PVC DOOR CONSISTING OF FRAME
MADE OUT OF M.S. TUBES OF 19 GAUGE THICKNESS AND SIZE OF 20MM X
40MM FOR STILES AS WELL AS TOP, BOTTOM & LOCK RAIL.
2. M.S. FRAME SHALL HAVE A COAT OF METAL PRIMER OF APPROVED MAKE &
MANUFACTURER.
3. THE INSIDE PANEL SHALL CONSIST OF 20MM THICK MULTI-CHAMBER
HOLLOW PVC SECTION OF 1MM WALL THICKNESS, BONDED USING SOLVENT
CEMENT / CYNOACRYLATE ADHESIVE WITH 5 MM THICK MOULDED PVC
SHEET OF DENSITY 600 KG/CBM WITH 2, 4, 6 RAISED PANEL DEIGN IN PLAIN /
PRELAM COLOURS AFTER ROUTING THE MOULDED DESIGN ON ONE SIDE OF
THE INSIDE PANEL.
4. 5 MM PLAIN / PRELAM PVC SHEET TO BE PASTED USING SOLVENT CEMENT /
CYNOACRYLATE ADHESIVE ON OTHER SIDE OF THE HOLLOW PVC SECTION.
5. ALL THE FOUR EDGE OF THE PANEL TO BE SEALED WITH LIPPING OF 10 MM
THICK & 20 MM WIDE PVC SHEET BATON MADE BY STICKING 2 NOS. FOAM
PVC SHEETS OF 5 MM THICKNESS USING PVC SOLVENT CEMENT ADHESIVE.
6. DOOR EDGE LIPPING TO BE PAINTED WITH PVC INK OF MATCHING COLOUR OF
PLAIN/PRELAM MOULDED PVC SHEET OF DOOR 20 MM THICK PVC SHEET TO
BE GIVEN FOR LOCK PROVISON AT LOCK HEIGHT.
7. DOOR TO BE FIXED WITH FRAME WITH 3 NOS. STAINLESS STEEL BUTT HINGES
OF SIZE 100MM X 25MM X 2MM AND 50 MM LONG STEEL SCREWS DRILLED
SUITABLE TO PASS THROUGH BOTH THE WALLS OF THE M.S. TUBE OTHER
HARDWARE SHOULD BE FIXED WITH 25MM X 8MM SIZE STEEL SCREWS ETC,
COMPLETE AS PER MANUFACTURER’S SPECIFICATION AND DRAWING OR
DIRECTION OF ENGINEER-IN-CHARGE.

B. SHOP FINISH
ALL THE SURFACE OF MOULDED PVC DOOR (WOOD FREE) SHOULD BE UNIFORM
SMOOTH FINISH AND FREE FROM CRACK AND SEAM. PASSING JOINTS SHALL BE
FINISHED ENSURING THAT NO GAPS ARE VISIBLE.

C. INSTALLATION
WOOD DOOR AND FRAMES SHALL BE SET PLUMB AND TRUE TO LINE IN OPENINGS.
THE JOINT BETWEEN FRAME AND MASONRY SHALL BE PROPERLY CAULKED. CONTACTS
BETWEEN DOOR FRAME AND ADJACENT WOOD SHALL BE SEALED WITH MASTIC.

D. HARDWARE
SIDE BRONZE BUTTS FOR SIDE HUNG DOORS SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR THE SERVICE
REQUIRED AND SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE SUPERVISING ARCHITECT OR
ENGINEER.

B.3. MEASUREMENTS AND PAYEMENT


1. PVC DOORS, FRAMES, ACCESSORIES AND HARDWARE SHALL BE MEASURED IN
SQUARE METER PER SET AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS.
2. A SET SHALL CONSIST OF PVC DOOR, JAMBS, AND HARDWARE EXCEPT DOOR
LOCKSETS.
3. THE AREA IN SQUARE METER FOR EVERY HOLLOW PVC DOOR INSTALLED READY
FOR SERVICE SHALL BE THE BASIS OF PAYMENT BASE ON THE UNIT BID OR
CONTRACT PRICE.

(C) ALUMINUM WINDOWS


C.1.1 SCOPE OF WORK
THIS ITEM SHALL CONSIST OF FURNISHINGS ALL ALUMINUM GLASS WINDOW
MATERIALS, LABOR, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED IN UNDERTAKING THE PROPER
INSTALLATION AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS
SPECIFICATION.
C.1.2 MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
A. WINDOW PANEL
WINDOW PANEL SHALL BE CONNECTED AT CORNERS WITH MITTER JOINT FIXED
RIGIDLY TO ENSURE WEATHER TIGHTNESS.
B. SLIDING WINDOWS
1. SLIDING WINDOWS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH NYLON SHEAVE.
2. SLIDING PANELS SHALL BE SUSPENDED WITH CONCEALED ROLLER
OVERHEAD TRACKS WITH BOTTOM GUIDE PITCH OUTWARD AND SLOTTED
FOR COMPLETE DRAINAGE.
3. THE SLIDING PANELS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH INTERIOR HANDLES.
4. THE LOCKING DEVICES SHALL BE A SPRING LOADED EXTRUDED LATCH THAT
AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGES SPECIAL FRAME HIPS.
C. CASEMENT WINDOW
1. CASEMENT WINDOW TYPE SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH TWO HINGES
FABRICATED FROM EXTRUDED ALUMINUM ALLOY. THEY SHALL OPEN ON
STAY ARMS HAVING ADJUSTABLE SLIDING FRICTION SHOES TO CONTROL
WINDOW PANEL OPERATIONS
2. LOCKING DEVICE SHALL BE ONE ARM ACTION HANDLE FOR MANUAL
OPERATIONS COMPLETE WITH STRIKE PLATE.
3. ALL JOINTS BETWEEN METAL SURFACE AND MASONRY SHALL BE FULLY AND
NEATLY CAULKED.
4. ALUMINUM PARTS IN CONTACT WITH THE STEEL MEMBERS SHALL BE
PROPERLY INSULATED BY A COAT OF ZINC CHROMATE,
PRIMER/BITUMINUOUS PAINT APPLIED TO THE STEEL SURFACE.
5. WEATHER STRIP SHALL BE FURNISHED ON EDGES AT THE MEETING STILES.
6. EXPOSED ALUMINUM SURFACES SHALL BE ELECTROTYPE HARD COATS SUCH
AS ANODIZE, SATIN, ETC.
7. ALL ALUMINUM PARTS SHALL BE PROTECTED ADEQUATELY TO ENSURE
AGAINST DAMAGE DURING TRANSIT AND CONSTRUCTION PHASE.
D. CLEANING
1. THE CONTRACTOR DOES NOT ONLY PROTECT ALL ENTRANCE UNITS DURING
THE CONSTRUCTION BUT ALSO SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVAL OF
PROTECTIVE MATERIALS AND CLEANING THE ALUMINUM SURFACE
INCLUDING GLAZING BEFORE WORK IS ACCEPTED BY THE SUPERVISING
ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER.
2. ALUMINUM SHALL BE THROUGHLY CLEANED WITH KEROSENE OR GASOLINE
DILUTED WITH WATER AND THEN WIPE SURFACE USING CLEAN CLOTH RUGS.
3. NO ABRASIVE CLEANING MATERIALS SHALL BE PERMITTED IN CLEANING
ALUMINUM SURFACES.

C.1.3. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT


1. ALUMINUM GLASS WINDOW FULLY EQUIPPED WITH FIXING ACCESSORIES
AND LOCKING DEVICES SHALL BE MEASURED IN SQUARE METERS ACTUALLY
INSTALLED IN PLACE AND ACCEPTED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
SUPERVISING ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER.
2. THE AREA OF ALUMINUM GLASS WINDOWS IN SQUARE METERS READY FOR
SERVICES AS PROVIDED IN THE BILL OF QUANTITIES SHALL BE THE BASIS OF
PAYMENT CONSTITUTE ALL MATERIALS, LABOR INCLUDING INCIDENTALS.

(D) GLASS
C.1.1.SCOPE OF WORK
MANUFACTURER SHALL PROVIDE CALCULATIONS FOR STRESS IN GLASS FOR
CURTAINWALLS, HIGH RISE BUILDINGS, ETC.
CALCULATIONS SHOULD RELATE TO PARTIAL, FULL AND SEASONAL SHADING
EFFECTS.

C.2 MATERIAL REQUIREMENT


1. MIRROR GLASS SHALL BE FRAMED IN STAINLESS STEEL, AND SHALL
HAVE BACKING SHEET. MIRROR SIZE IN RESTROOMS SHALL BE BASED ON

1.1 GENERAL CONDITIONS

2. MATERIAL REQUIREMENT
2.1 ACOUSTIC METAL PANELS
2.1.1 ALL PANELS AND THEIR COMPONENTS SHALL BE PRE-FABRICATED,
SECTIONAL, ALL-METAL CLAD, MODULAR AND DESIGNED FOR EASY AND
ACCURATE FIELD ASSEMBLY. THE PANELS AND COMPONENTS SHALL NOT
BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE DUE TO EXTENDED EXPOSURE TO
VIBRATION, AIR TEMPERATURE OR HUMIDITY WITH THE PASSAGE OF
TIME.

2.3 PANEL CONSTRUCTION


2.2.1 EXCEPT AS SHOWN ON DRAWINGS OR AT LOCATIONS DESCRIBED
BELOW, USE 4” THICK ACOUSTICAL PANELS. EXTERIOR SURFACES ARE
SOLID SHEET 16-GA. GALVANNEAL STEEL. INTERIOR SURFACES ARE 22
GA. PERFORATED GALVANNEAL STEEL.
2.2.2 SOUND-RETARDING AND ABSORBING FILL MATERIAL SHALL BE
NONCOMBUSTIBLE, INERT, MILDEW-RESISTANT AND VERMIN PROOF.
2.2.3 THE PANEL SHELLS, FRAMING MEMBERS AND INTERNAL
REINFORCEMENTS SHALL BE WELDED AND/OR RIVETED TOGETHER TO
FORM A METAL-SHEATHED PANEL OF SUFFICIENT STRENGTH FOR
MAXIMUM OPERATING LOADS.
2.2.4 PRIOR TO ATTACHING FACE SHEET, PANEL SHALL BE DAMPENED AND
FILLED WITH SOUND RETARDING AND ABSORBING ELEMENTS. FILL
SHALL BE SLIGHTLY LARGER AND THICKERTHAN INSIDE DIMENSIONS OF
PANEL. NO VOIDS WILL BE TOLERATED
2.2.5 THE OUTER GALVANIZED STEEL SHELL THICKNESS SHALL BE 16-GA.
MINIMUM AND THE INNER GALVANIZED STEEL SHELL SHALL BE 22-GA.
MINIMUM THICK.
2.2.6 WEEP HOLES TO PERMIT WATER RUNOFF SHALL BE PROVIDED ON
ALL HORIZONTAL SURFACES.
2.2.7 SPOT WELDS SHALL BE NO MORE THAN 4 IN. APART.
2.4 PANEL COMPONENTS
2.4.1 ALL ACCESSORY TRIM ITEMS SHALL BE OF GALVANIZED STEEL AND
SHALL BE FURNISHED IN FACTORY-STANDARD LENGTHS TO BE FIELD CUT
TO SPECIFIED DIMENSIONS. LOCATIONS AND QUANTITIES OF SHEET
METAL SCREWS AND TRIM REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION DETAILS.
2.4.2 ALL PANEL CONNECTIONS, TRIM ITEMS, ACCESSORIES, BASE
CHANNEL/PANEL INTERFACES, BASE CHANNEL/FLOOR INTERFACES AND
OTHER SECTIONS SHALL BE SEALED WITH AN ACOUSTICAL SEALANT
THAT SHALL NOT HARDEN AND PREVENT DISASSEMBLY IN THE FUTURE.
2.4.3 PANEL CONNECTION DESIGN AND FIT SHALL PREVENT NOISE
LEAKAGE WHILE ACOUSTICALLY AND STRUCTURALLY JOINING PANELS
TOGETHER. JOINERS SHALL BE ROLL FORMED SECTIONS INDEPENDENT OF
BASIC PANEL SO THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY OF DIRECT PASSAGE OF NOISE.
2.4.4 WEEP HOLES TO PERMIT WATER RUNOFF SHALL BE PROVIDED ON
ALL HORIZONTAL SURFACES THAT MAY TRAP WATER.
2.5 STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE
2.5.1 UNDER THE INDICATED LOADING CONDITIONS, THE ENTIRE
ENCLOSURE SYSTEM SHALL BE SELF-SUPPORTING. THE INSTALLER SHALL
FURNISH AND ASSEMBLE ALL STRUCTURAL MEMBERS IN STRICT
ACCORDANCE WITH THE DRAWINGS AND MANUFACTURER'S
INSTALLATION DETAILS.
2.5.2 THE TEST CELL STRUCTURE SHALL SUPPORT ALL WALL MOUNTED
CRANE AND MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT LOADS AS INDICATED
ON THE DRAWINGS
2.5.3 UNDER THE ABOVE LOADING CONDITIONS, THE ASSEMBLED
ACOUSTICAL STRUCTURE SHALL NOT EXHIBIT ANY PANEL JOINT
DEFLECTION IN EXCESS OF L/240, WHERE L IS THE UNSUPPORTED SPAN
LENGTH OF ANY PANEL SECTION IN THE ERECTED STRUCTURE.
2.6 PRIME AND FINISH PAINT
2.6.1 STRUCTURAL STEEL MEMBERS
1. STRUCTURAL STEEL MEMBERS AND DOORS TO RECEIVED PAINT SHALL
BE DE-GREASED AND CLEANED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SSPC - 1.1 WITH
WELDS GROUND SMOOTH AND FILLED AS NEEDED. EXPOSED SURFACES
SHALL THEN BE PRIMED WITH ON COATED MODIFIED ALKYD BAKED
ENAMEL PAINT
2. FINISH PAINT SHALL BE AS INDICATED IN THE PAINT SCHEDULE
3. PROVIDED SUFFICIENT PAINT TO TOUCH UP STRUCTURAL MEMBERS
AND DOORS AFTER INSTALLATION OF TEST CELLS.
2.6.2 PANELS AND TRIM
1. FINISH ACOUSTICAL PANELS IN SHOP PRIOR TO PANEL ASSEMBLY AND
ACOUSTIC INSULATION FILL.
2. PREPARE PANELS AND TRIM BY THOROUGHLY REMOVING GREASE,
DIRT, OIL, FLUX, AND OTHER FOREIGN MATTER
3. TREAT PREPARED ACOUSTICAL PANELS AND COMPONENTS WITH
ZINCE-PHOSPATE PRETREATMENT, RINSE, AND SEAL SURFACE.
4. APPLY THERMOSETTING POLYESTER OR ACRYLIC URETHANE POWDER
COATING WITH CURED FILM THICKNESS NOT LESS THAN 3.0 MILS.
5. COLOR SHALL BE AS INDICATED IN THE PAINT SCHEDULE
6. SURFACE PROTECTION: APPLY A TEMPORARY 3.0 MIL THICKNESS PVC
TEMPORARY COVERING TO POWDER COATED SURFACE AFTER CURE FOR
SHIPMENT AND INSTALLATION PROTECTION.
2.6.3 FINISH PAINT SHALL BE AS INDICATED IN THE PAINT SCHEDULE
2.6.4 PROVIDE SUFFICIENT PAINT TO TOUCH-UP PANELS AFTER I
NSTALLATION OF TEST CELLS.
2.7 INTERCHANGEABILITY AND REUSE
2.7.1. ACOUSTIC STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS HAVING SAME PART
NUMBERS SHALL BE COMPLETELY INTERCHANGEABLE.
2.7.2. ACOUSTIC STRUCTURE SHALL BE SUCH THAT NO COMPONENTS
WILL BE DAMAGED UPON DISASSEMBLY. DESIGN SHALL ALLOW
STRUCTURE TO BE ASSEMBLED, DISASSEMBLED AND REASSEMBLED
MINIMUM OF 3 TIMES WITHOUT DETRACTION FROM ACOUSTIC
PERFORMANCE.

3. EXECUTION
3.1 PANEL SUPPORTS AND ANCHORAGE
3.1.1 INSTALL COLUMNS, BEAMS AND OTHER SECONDARY STRUCTURAL
PANEL SUPPORT MEMBERS AND ANCHORAGE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH AISC MANUAL OF STEEL CONSTRUCTION "CODE OF STANDARD
PRACTICE".

3.2 PANEL INSTALLATION


3.2.1 INSTALL PANELS ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS
AND RECOMMENDATIONS, AS APPLICABLE TO PROJECT CONDITIONS
AND SUPPORTING SUBSTRATES. ANCHOR PANELS AND OTHER
COMPONENTS OF THE WORK SECURELY IN PLACE, WITH
PROVISIONS FOR THERMAL AND STRUCTURAL MOVEMENT.
3.2.2 BASE CHANNEL SHALL BE INSTALLED ON A LEVEL AND
STRUCTURALLY SOUND SURFACE.
3.2.3 ACCESSORIES: INSTALL COMPONENTS REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE
ACOUSTICAL PANEL SYSTEM, INCLUDING TRIM, COPING, SUPPORTS
AND ATTACHMENTS, CONNECTIONS BETWEEN PANELS, SEAM
COVERS, SEALANTS, FILLERS, CLOSURES STRIPS AND SIMILAR
ITEMS.

3.3 CLEANING AND ADJUSTMENT


3.3.1 DAMAGED UNITS: REPLACE PANELS AND OTHER COMPONENTS OF
THE WORK THAT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED OR HAVE DETERIORATED
BEYOND SUCCESSFUL REPAIR BY MEANS OF FINISH TOUCH UP OR
SIMILAR MINOR REPAIR PROCEDURES.
3.3.2 CLEANING: REMOVE TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE COVERINGS AND
STRIPPABLE FILMS (IF ANY) AS SOON AS EACH PANEL IS INSTALLED.
UPON COMPLETION OF PANEL INSTALLATION, CLEAN FINISHED
SURFACES AS RECOMMENDED BY PANEL MANUFACTURER, AND
MAINTAIN IN A CLEAN CONDITION DURING CONSTRUCTION.
