SBA Planning and Design Questions
Plan and design an experiment based on ONE of the following statements/aims:
1. To compare the effectiveness of enzymatic washing powders versus non-enzymatic washing
powders on stain removal.
2. To evaluate the relative quantities of reducing and non-reducing sugars in store-bought natural
juices vs unsweetened home-made local juices.
3. Quantitative determination of the protein content of different milk powder brands.
4. To evaluate the protein content of protein shakes vs local foods that are high in protein.
5. To investigate the role of sucrose on pollen grain germination.
6. Investigating the germination of pollen grains from a range of flowers in sucrose solutions with
differing concentrations.
All P&D proposals should be written up in the correct format and have all the relevant headings
and information.
NOTE:
Additional reading and research will be required in order to properly understand the concepts
being investigated and to properly plan and formulate an experimental design and method,
especially for the questions based on topics which have not yet been covered in the lectures.
