What does my Payslip Look Like?


1. Your name and
address will display in
this box

3. This is your employee


number, name, and the pay
day for this payment. Please
note for staff previously paid
by the Newcastle office this
number is now prefixed with
an “S.” 2. This box will display any
company messages

4. This is your employer’s


name, tax month for this
payment, and your pay group

6. This details deductions from


your pay, listing deduction
5. This details your income, name, and deduction amount

A-Z of your new Payslip

ACCUMULATIONS – any other applicable totals – these may not just be for this tax

year, but may be on-going

AMOUNT PAID – the actual amount to be credited to your bank account, or paid by

cheque, on your pay day

ANNUAL SALARY – your basic full time annual salary figure. This is usually what

determines the ‘Basic Pay’ figure of your earnings

BROUGHT FORWARD & AMOUNT PAID – any amount brought forwards from previous

payslips and your Net Pay = your Amount Paid

C 8 CARRIED FORWARD – any amount carried forward to a future payslip

6 DEDUCTION AMOUNT – the total amount being deducted, by type

DEDUCTION NAME – a breakdown of your deductions by type. Your tax code can also

be seen here

5 EARNING AMOUNT – the total amount being paid per earning

5 EARNING NAME – a breakdown of your income by type of payment

EARNINGS, DEDUCTIONS, AND NET PAY – the total for this payslip of your earnings

and deductions = your Net Pay

E 3 EMPLOYEE NUMBER – you will need this if you have any queries regarding your pay

EMPLOYER’S CONTRIBUTIONS – these are the contributions made by your Employer


on your behalf. These will include National Insurance (as your Employer pays a

contribution as well as you), and things such as Pension and other Benefits as
applicable. This is the amount for this payslip only

4 EMPLOYER’S NAME – the name of your Employer

NI NUMBER – this is your National Insurance Number. This is your unique identifier with
11 many state bodies, such as the Inland Revenue, and identifies your contributions to
those bodies, such as Income Tax and National Insurance contributions

NOTES & MESSAGES – this is an area where you may receive Payroll and HR-related
9 messages. These may be personal to you, or sent to a group of people – perhaps even
all employees. You should always check this box

3 PAY DAY – the day that the money is credited to your bank account

4 PAY GROUP – this is used by HR to identify the group of people that you are paid with

8 PAYMENT METHOD – how the money is being paid

PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT – any totals for this Tax Year before you joined your
