Procedures in Reporting Farm Estimates

1. In meeting the farm owner , you must gather the following data of the farm.
2. Determine the owner’s plan to his farm
3. Determine the estimation of farm inputs
4. Calculate the farm inputs
5. Give the result to the farm owner
6. Budgeting/ Revision if there are changes made by the farm owner
7. Finalization of the farm estimate and calculation
8. Give the final draft of farm estimates and calculation to the farm owner

Perform Estimations or Calculation to be done According to the Job

Requirements
Farm Inputs
These are the different resources that are used in crop production.

Farm supplies - these are the essential materials nenumber or amount

needed is very important to minimize unnecessary expenses

Examples :
Seeds - a mature ovule consisting of an embryonic plant together with stored
food, all sorrounded by a protective coat. It is used to propagate plants easily.

Fertilizers - a substance that supplies nutrients to the soil that are essential
for the growth of a plant.

Pesticides- a substance to kill pests.

Labor Inputs
These are the energy needed so that the production grows. Labor inputs als
use tools and equipment to make the labor easy and to secure the production
activity.
1. Labor requirement for land preparation such as
Application Test Yourself!

Direction: Answer the questions below

1. What do you think is/ are the importance of possessing the skills in farming
2. Why do we need to know the different tools and equipment used in
farming?

IV- EVALUATION:

Directions: Based on the given below, fill up the table and compute the total cost:

Farm Inputs Quantity Unit Price/ Unit Cost

Seeds

Fertilizer

Insecticides

Plowing

Harrowing

Total Cost

Given:
 Total cost of seed is P 1,800.00 , price of the seed is at P 60.00/kilo
 There are 8 bags of fertilizers needed, price of the fertilizer is P 1,080.00 / bag.
 10 loads of (Knapsack Sprayer - 16 L capacity)
 5 days of plowing if using carabao
 1 week of harrowing if using carabao

A. How many kilograms of seeds should be purchased if you have P1,800.00 and the price of the seeds
per kilogram is P 60.00 / kg.

B. If you need 8 bags of fertilizer at P 1,080.00/bag, How much should you need?

C. Ratio of insecticide is 2:100, there is 2 L of insecticide mixed with 100L of water.

D. If price per liter of insecticide is P 2,500.00 per liter. How much is the cost of insecticide?

E. What is the cost of labor all in all if plowing and harrowing using Carabao prevailing rate of such
labor is P350.00 per day.
F. Compute the surface area of the farm if the width of the farm is 100 m and the length of the
farm is 250 m? Express your answer in hectare.

V- ASSIGNMENT:

Draw a farm following the description below, draw it in your activity notebook.

1. Area of the farm is 100 m x 100 m.

2. 1/2 of the farm is planted with Corn.

3. 30% of the corn is 10 cm long.

4. 70% of the corn is 30 cm long.

Guide Questions:

2. What can you say about the picture?

3. Based on the picture what comes to your mind?
3. Who among you have experiences in handling different types of tools used
in farming?

Abstraction
The teacher will discuss the following through Multimedia Presentation:

Farm tools and Equipment and their classifications

play a very importantb role in every farm practice and operation. Hence as
learner you should be able to know, identify, and learn their uses to become
a successful farmer.

Classification of farm tools and equipment

1.Hand tools - are the simplest tools since they are used with yor bare hands
in performing farm operations and practices in a small farm or vegetable
garden in the backyard or schools.
A. Cutting tools
B. Digging tools
C. Lifting tools
D. Leveling tools

Hand Farm tools

1. Prunning shears- used for cutting branches of planting materials and
unnecessary twigs of the plants.
2. Crowbar- used for digging ,breaking hardtopsoil and for digging stones and
tree stumps.
3. pick mattock- is used for digging breaking hard topsoil and for digging
stones and tree stumps
4. Rake- is used for cleaning the ground and leveling the topsoil
5. Hand fork- is used for inter row cut
6. bolo- is used for cutting tall grasses ,weeds and chopping branches of
tree.
7. Axe- is used for cutting bigger size post.
8. Shovel- is used in removing trash ,loose soil, moving soil from one place to
another and for mixing soil media.
9. Water pails- for hauling water
10.Knives- is for cutting planting and for performing other operations or
holticulture.
11.Sprinkler- for watering seedlings, yopung plants
12.Grab hoe- is used for breaking topsoil and pulverizing soil.

2. Farm Implements - these are accessories which are pulled by working

animals or mounted machineries (hand tractor, tractor)and which are usually
used in the preparation of land. These are usually made of special kind of
metal.

A. Native Plow /disc plow- these are implements either pulled by a working
animals or tractor, tilling large areas, making furrows and inter row cultivation.
Plows pulled by working animals are made of either a combination of metal
and wood or pure metal. They are used to till areas with a shallower depth
than that of the disc plows which are pulled by tractors
B. Harrow-used to pulverize soil, break up crop residues, uproot weeds, and
cover seed
C. Rotavator -s a piece of equipment used to churn and aerate the soil prior to
the area being seeded or having turf laid. This is an essential step to prepare
the land. The Rotavator used a series of blades to twist apart and break up
the soil.

4. Farm equipment -means equipment, machinery, and repair parts

manufactured for use on farms in connection with the production or
preparation for market use of food resources.

A. Hand tractor - is used to pull a plow harrow in preparing a large area.

B. Four wheel tractor- is used to pull plow and disc harrow in preparing much
bigger area of land
C. Water pumps- are used to draw water from a source

Application
Test Yourself!

Direction: Answer the questions below

3. What do you think is/ are the importance of possessing the skills in farming
4. Why do we need to know the different tools and equipment used in
farming?

IV- EVALUATION:

Draw at least two hand tools used in farming.

Your output will be graded by the following criteria.

Properly drawn 15points

Color used 10points
No stain or dirt 10points
Good working habits 10points
Total 45points

V- ASSIGNMENT:

Search and study the routine check-up and maintenance of the farm tools and equipment every after use.
