RAISE Plus LESSON PLAN in STATISTICS & PROBABILITY

School RIZAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Grade Level 11 Quarter IV
Teacher SONNY P. PURA School Year 2022 – 2023
Week Date JUNE 20, 2023 Learning Area MATHEMATICS
I. OBJECTIVES
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of correlation and regression
A. Content Standard
analyses.
B. Performance The learner is able to perform correlation and regression analyses on real-life problems in
Standard different disciplines.
Learning Competency:
Illustrates the nature of bivariate data. (M11/12SP-IVg-2)
C. Learning
Learning Objectives:
Competencies/
Objectives (Code) 1. Defines bivariate data
2. Compares relationship of bivariate data
3. Exercise open-mindedness in discussing the concept
II. CONTENT NATURE OF BIVARIATE DATA
III. LEARNING RESOURCES/REFERENCES
A. Teacher’s Guide Pages
B. Learner’s Material Pages
C. Other Textbooks
D. Other Learning Resources
IV. PROCEDURES
 Prayer
A. Preparatory
 Greetings
Activities
 Checking the attendance
ACTIVITY 1: DIRECT OR INVERSE
Directions: Direct and Inverse Variations are two most common types of variations. For each
statement below, classify the relationship between the two quantities as DIRECT or
INVERSE:
B. REVIEW
1. an employee’s wages and the number of hours worked Direct Variation
2. the amount of sales tax and the total price of the merchandise Direct Variation
3. when traveling a set distance, the rate and the time Inverse Variation
4. the battery power and the time for which it is used Inverse Variation
C. ACTIVATE The teacher will ask the students to compare relationship between their obtained grades
and study habits they practice. Students may give different responses.

ACTIVITY 2: WHAT DO YA’ THINK?

Group Activity:
Directions: You will be given the following set of questions, then your group will present the
answers for the selected item.
1. Do you think there is a link between the size of an engine and the fuel efficiency of a
particular car? Expected Response: Engine size influences fuel efficiency. Students
may elaborate their answers.
2. Why is fuel efficiency important?
ER: a) Larger engines use more fuel; b) The bigger the engine size the more fuel is
needed. Students may elaborate their answers.
3. Would fuel efficiency influence your choice of car?
ER: The engine size does not have a big influence on the of fuel a car uses.
Students may elaborate their answers.

At its most basic, FUEL EFFICIENCY is defined as a measure of how much a car will
convert energy in fuel into kinetic energy to travel. In other words, fuel efficiency shows
how far your car can travel with a certain amount of fuel. In America, the concept is
described as "miles per gallon" (mpg).

The preceding discussions focused on bivariate data analysis:

The purpose of bivariate data analysis is to explain and explore the concept of
relationship between two variables, whether there exists an association and the strength of
this association, or whether there are differences between two variables and the significance
of these differences.
ACTIVITY 3: RED CARD OR GREEN CARD?
Directions: Raise your GREEN cards if you think the pair of variables are related and RED
cards if you think the pair of variables are NOT related to each to other.
1. Ice cream sales and temperature (ER: YES)
2. Color of the car and daily allowance (ER: NO)
3. The number of hours your work and the amount of money you earn (ER: YES)
D. IMMERSE
4. Hair color and grades (ER: NO)
5. Record race and cholesterol level (ER: YES)

Follow-up questions:
a. How did you determine your answer?
b. Elaborate your answer based on your chosen card.

Give your thoughts on the question below:

E. SYNTHESIZE Why is there a need to study the relationship between two variables like the one we
had earlier (Fuel Consumption & Car Engine)? (Varied answers)
F. EVALUATE Directions: Tell whether the following bivariate data is RELATED or NOT RELATED to each
other.
1. Price vs number of shirts sold
2. Number of tickets sold vs total revenue
3. Price of a bag vs number of bags sold

Professional Purposes during your First Semester this SY 2022-2023.
2. From the grades results, ask students to tabulate the data gathered.
