Gender Stereotypes In The Song Straight Outta Vagina
Songs have been portraying society as far back in history as we can research. A song
that exemplifies society in a positive way is the song Straight Outta Vagina by Pussy
Riot on the album XXX. This song portrays women as strong and independent, it also
outlines some of the amazing things women have done throughout history. This is
shown though the imagery of women portrayed as vaginas. Throughout the song,
there are many examples of how Pussy Riot defies gender stereotypes, fights gender
norms, exemplifies gender performance, power, and violence. Gender stereotypes are
prevalent in all forms of media; Pussy Riot is working against this idea. A verse that
specifically defies gender stereotypes is in the second verse. Vaginas gonna win the
race, vagina gonna play in space (Pussy Riot). Athleticism and space exploration is
seen as more masculine in society. It is also stereotyped because you might stereotype
women as uninterested in sports. This stereotype could keep you from noticing that
many women engage in sports (_____ 107). This is the point that Pussy Riot is
pointing out. They are showing that women win races too and women are interesting
in space exploration despite these stereotypes. A second lyric that defies these
stereotypes is it goes to work, it makes the beats, it s CEO, no rookie, from senator to
bookie (Pussy Riot). These types of jobs are stereotypically seen as masculine jobs. In
the article The Inarticulate Gender Bending Performance of Vice Presidential Nominee
Sarah Palin , Denise Oles points out that women still struggle to overcome
stereotypical notions regarding their ability to be strong leaders (Oles 353). This
stereotype is shown throughout history when you look at women s employment in
leadership positions and the way we as a society communicate with this notion. Pussy
Riot is saying that women are in these positions and they are represented in more than
just bookie jobs. Pussy Riot is known for producing songs that defy gender and sexual
norms, and this song, Straight Outta Vagina , is no exception. The language in the song
is the first gender norm that Pussy Riot is defying. The words vagina , pussy , and va
jay jay , are not used in the common language because
Handgrip Exercise Analysis
The handgrip test is one of many muscular strength tests used by health and fitness
professionals. The test measures the maximum isometric strength of the muscles in the
hand and forearm. Handgrip strength has a strong association with overall muscular
strength and can be a valuable indicator of well being as well as overall fitness (Rijk et
al., 2015). Additionally, grip strengthis important in any sport or activity that requires the
use of hands to catch, throw, or otherwise manipulate objects.
Methods
Population Handgrip strength is dependent upon a number of factors, such as age, sex,
and body size. Because aging affects muscular strength, handgrip strength testing is used
for populations of adolescents to older adults in both genders. ... Show more content on

For the Jamar hand dynamometer, there are tables for both men and women that
contain normative data, also measured in kilograms. These tables are divided into 10
year age intervals (20 29, 30 39, etc.) and are also divided by percentile. The value from
the test is compared to percentile data for the age ranges, and the individual s
performance is determined (Acevedo Starks, 2011; Roberts et al., 2011).
Safety
The safety precautions for handgrip strength test may vary depending upon the individual
of the participants. However, the handgrip strength test is quite safe and few safety
precautions are required for participants with no current or previous injuries.

Taking a Look at Mine Warfare
Mine warfare is the strategic, operational, and tactical use of sea mines and the
countermeasures to defeat them. These weapons are so dangerous and efficient which
is why foreign navies and even terrorist possess these weapons. The history of these
weapons goes back to 1776; a year after our nation s Navy was born. A man named
David Bushnell created a mine that was composed of a watertight keg, filled with
black powder and a flintlock detonator which was suspended from a float (Levie). The
kegs were first used in the Delaware River to destroy British ships downriver during the
Revolutionary War. Along with the creation of the floating mines, Bushnell also created a
drift model of the mines that exploded on contact. As time went on, the Naval Branch
increased in size and so did the evolution and use of mines. Around 1863, Confederate
Congress established the TorpedoService whose mission was to sow southern waterways
with the kegs, which were very inexpensive at the time. It was not until World War I
when mines were being laid across the seas in large amounts to prevent German U boats
from destroying our warships. Almost twenty five years later, during the Second World
War, modern magnetic, acoustic, and pressure sensitive mines were first developed. The
deployment of mines by submarineand aircraft suddenly came into play, which spark
inventors to begin developing counter measures. Along with these counter measures, the
military begin to establish a base line by which all

University of Helsinki: Women, Peace, and Security Issues in the Horn of Africa
Position: Presidential Nominee of Somalia Problems faced: Fadumo Dayib was born
in Kenya, but was deported with her family, back to Somalia. Due to civil war, Dayib
fled to Finland when she was around 17 and spent twenty six years as a refugee.
Despite living the majority of her life in Finland, Dayib s aims have always been to
return to Somalia with the hope of bringing skills and education to the country.
Currently, she is attempting to take on the role of President, to unify and stabilise
Somalia. There are eighteen candidates (she is the only female) for the up coming
election in Somalia this month, and Dayib will oppose the current president Hassan
Sheikh Mohamud. Accused of becoming dictatorial, Sheikh Mohamud has had a history
of silencing free press ad making constitutional breaches. Resolving Somalia s political
problems also encompass corruption in government. To do this would combat any
dependence on the Al Shabaab, an Islamic militant group, which had controlled a lot of
the region. To win the election this month, Dayib will face other parties who can, and
will, buy votes. She flatly acknowledges this point stating that if you are not corrupt,
then you will not be able to partake in the system. Despite that Dayib believes she
Efficient Delivery Of Cancer
The efficient delivery of drugs and energy to tumors faces several difficulties and
obstacles that need to be overcome for effective cancer treatment. Nanoparticles
administrated through intravenous injections accumulate at a tumor site due to the
enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, but only a small quantity of the
injected particles can actually reach the tumor(Su et al, 2016). The majority of the
nanoparticles interact with cancercells at the periphery of a tumor which presents a
physiological barrier that prevents most of the injected particles from reaching the tumor
(Su et al, 2016). In addition to this barrier, there is also another significant obstacle,
cancer associated fibroblasts , which can also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This conglomerate composed of protein lipid, sponge like carbon, and reduced
graphene oxide (rGO) was administrated by the researchers to mice in order to study
the material s ability to transport the hydrophobic drug docetaxel (DTX) and
perfluorohexane (PFH) for deep tumor penetration and therapy (Su et al, 2016). The
Lf lipo GNS composite is capable of carrying large amounts of drugs in its pores which
can be released through the absorption of light by the GNS. By applying near infrared
(NIR) irradiation, the gasification of PFH occurs due to an increase in local
temperature in the graphene nanosponge which as a result damages and ruptures
tumor spheroids (Su et al, 2016). Consequently, the combined effects of gasification
and chemo and thermotherapy can substantially reduce tumors and even completely
eliminate them without future reappearance. The researchers conducted a study on in
vitro photolytic therapy on RG2 tumor spheroids incubated with the control group
(PBS only), Lf lipo US GNS/DTX, Lf lipo US GNS/DTX+NIR, and Lflipo US GNS
/DTX PFH+NIR (Su et al, 2016). Due to its tumor penetration ability, the researchers
used 10 μg/mL of 40 nm Lf lipo US GNS to conduct the study. After the composite was
administrated to the tumors, they were allowed to incubate for 4 h followed by NIR
irradiation with a power density of 2 W cm 2 for 10 min and then were stained with

ADULT LITERACY: A great deal of students are achieving short term goals and steadily
increasing their literacy reading level. Several students have obtained jobs and/or
promotions at work. One Student passed the certification for nursing assistant and got a
job. Another student s improvement raised her confidence and now is one of our interns.
One student passed the TASC exam and three became citizens. These are just a few of the
accomplishments our students are making some with practically no reading ability when
they started the program. These accomplished are possible thanks to Dutchess County
Agency Partner Grant, other funders and contributors and the dedication of our
outstanding volunteers and staff. Thank you for making it possible!
