NARRATIVE REPORT

My experience during my work immersion was extremely joyful because I didn't

expect to be assigned to the Ormoc District Hospital (ODH). As I mentioned in my weekly
journal, I was expecting to be assigned to the Engineering office, so being assigned to ODH
came as a pleasant surprise. At that time, I was absolutely sure that I would learn a lot in the
place where I would be working because I didn't have much knowledge about how a hospital
is run, so there was a mix of nervousness and anticipation in what I was feeling at that
moment. When we arrived at ODH, we were assigned to the Malasakit Center. On that day,
we were informed by the staff working at the Malasakit Center about the activities and
services they provide. Here's what the Malasakit Center does. The Malasakit Center is a
government program in the Philippines that aims to provide a convenient and streamlined
process for Filipinos in need of medical and financial assistance. It is a one-stop shop where
patients can seek assistance from multiple government agencies to help cover the costs of their
medical treatment. The primary objective of the Malasakit Center is to make healthcare
services more accessible and affordable for all Filipinos, especially those who are financially
disadvantaged. The center brings together various agencies, such as the Department of Health
(DOH), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Philippine Charity
Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD),
to ensure a coordinated approach in assisting patients. And I also learned that The Malasakit
Center is accessible to all Filipino citizens who are in need of medical and financial assistance.
It is open to individuals who require support for their healthcare expenses, especially those
who are financially disadvantaged and may have difficulty covering the costs of medical
treatments. The center aims to provide assistance to patients across a wide range of medical
conditions, from common illnesses to more complex and specialized treatments. Whether
someone needs assistance with hospital bills, medications, laboratory tests, or other necessary
medical services, they can seek help at the Malasakit Center. It is important to note that each
Malasakit Center may have specific guidelines and requirements for accessing its services. It
is recommended to visit or contact the nearest Malasakit Center in your area to inquire about
the specific eligibility criteria and documentation needed to apply for financial assistance.
Additionally, individuals are advised to bring relevant documents, such as medical records,
prescriptions, hospital bills, and proof of income, when visiting the center to facilitate the
processing of their applications Overall, the Malasakit Center is intended to be accessible to
all Filipinos who require medical and financial assistance, regardless of their background or
medical condition. Having to work in ODH didn’t turned bad Afterall because what have I
learned in work immersion sure can help me in the future.
