LOADTEST ON DC SHUNT MOTOR

AIM: To perform load test on DC shunt motor.

APPARATUS REQUIRED:
1. Ammeters (0-2.5 A) & (0-25 A)
2. Voltmeter (0-300 V)
3. DC supply
4. Shunt motor 5 hp, 220 V, 20.5 A, 1400 rpm
5. Belt-pulley loading arrangement
6. Connecting wires

PROCEDURE:
1. Connect voltmeter & ammeter according to the circuit diagram with the hclp of
connecting wires.
2. Start the motor and slightly increase the load step wise and note the corresponding
tensions.
3. Note down the voltage and current relative to the speed of motor.

PRECAUTiONS:
1. Instruments must be of required range.
2. Increase the load stepwise.
3. Connections should be propcr and tight.
4. Do not touch any open terminal
during the experiment.
